Recipe Book

Hello---just wanted to share this recipe album I had up on the SRM Stickers blog last week.  It is designed to hold treasured recipes that have been passed down.   I used the brand new Glassine Bags in the 3 3/4" by 6 1/4" size to hold recipe tags. I also used chipboard, black acrylic paint, cooking stickers, and baker's twine to make the page pulls:

Super easy to create and it makes a great gift idea.  It would be fun to make an album with photos that pull out of the glassine bags as well!!

Be sure to stop by on New Years Day for something pretty special!

Hug Your Children!

Hi there!  Today is my son's 10th birthday.  Hard to believe that just 10 short years ago this guy came into our lives!  I cannot imagine my world without him.  Happy Birthday Ben!

With the recent tragic events in Newtown, Connecticut, I am reminded more than ever what a gift our children are.  After several days just feeling very depressed...I saw this on Facebook and I got some comfort from it so I thought I would share it:

Twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38
when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate.
their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air.
they could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.
they were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say.
they remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day.
"where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse.
"this is heaven." declared a small boy. "we're spending Christmas at God's house."
when what to their wondering eyes did appear,
but Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near.
He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same.
then He opened His arms and He called them by name.
and in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring
those children all flew into the arms of their King
and as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace,
one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face.
and as if He could read all the questions she had
He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad."
then He looked down on earth, the world far below
He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe
then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand,
"Let My power and presence re-enter this land!"
"may this country be delivered from the hands of fools"
"I'm taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!"
then He and the children stood up without a sound.
"come now my children, let me show you around."
excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran.
all displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can.
and i heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight,
"in the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT."

SRM Holiday Card Ideas

Hope you are enjoying your December.  It has been a crazy month already!  My son had to have a molar tooth pulled on Tuesday.  The dentist wanted to pull it because it does not have an adult tooth and the baby tooth had a root canal and a cap placed on it when he was younger. So, they didn't anticipate it lasting long.   The hope was that they would pull it and the other molars would start tilting forward and then braces will just pull the teeth into alignment.  But, when we got there...the procedure took a lot more time than we had planned because that little tooth had fused with the bone.  Luckily, the dentist got it out (along with a piece of the bone!)  Ben did great (much better than I did!) but I think the whole process aged me a few years :)

Yesterday I spent the day at the mall...and still feel like I haven't accomplished much:(  But it was fun! (At least more fun that watching your child have a tooth yanked:)

Anyway.....here are a few more holiday card ideas using SRM Stickers:
This first card features Sticker Sentiments: Happy Holidays along with some Echo Park paper (Happy Days: Red, Springtime: Lemonade, Robin's Egg; For the Record: Green) and a layered chipboard snowflake (Season's Greetings-Echo Park).

Next--A little Peace on Earth:

I used  Sticker Sentiments: Happy Holidays (SRM) on this card also.  I combined it with some fun patterned map paper (Wayfarer by Bazzill Basics) and some Echo Park Papers.  The dies are from My Favorite
Things (Paper Doll border Dienamics) and The Cat's Pajamas (Heart).

Today the team is sharing projects with Perfect Plaids and Snow One Like You (the New One Free with 3 set---- Purchase any three stamp sets and you will receive this month's One Free with 3 stamp set!)

Here are my projects for today--- :)

The first card today uses both of these sets---Perfect Plaids and Snow One Like You and it also uses a previous release called You Say Goodbye, and I Say Ello (speech bubble):
The birdhouse is from Snow One Like You. I stamped it in Memento tuxedo black ink on Pure Luxury white cardstock and then colored it with Copic markers.   I added the little picket fence border using Memento Lady Bug ink. (This is one of the stamps in the Perfect Plaids set that I thought resembled a picket fence!)   The sentiment is from Lots of Letters (...yes, I will be using this set a lot...hooray for letters!)  I stamped it in Memento Teal Zeal.

Next I have a simple tag using Snow One Like You:
The snowmen in this set are adorable.  I embossed him in white and then I stamped some of the smaller snowflakes in the background (kinda hard to see in this picture) and embossed them in clear.  I paired this fella with the border from Warm Woolen Mittens, which I embossed in white on the bottom of the tag.

Next, a colorful snowstorm:
These snowflakes are from Snow One Like You.  I stamped them on the pure luxury white cardstock using Memento Bahama Blue, Memento Lady Bug and Memento Dandelion inks.  I used the sentiment from Warm Woolen Mittens to finish it off.

Finally, a plaid snowflake card using Perfect Plaids:

I used the same layout as my light bulb card from Monday...but this time, I added a Kraft layers with punched snowflakes that I stamped in Memento Bahama Blue ink using one of the fun plaid stamps.  Love how fun those snowflakes look!  Again, the sentiment is stamped in Memento Lady Bug ink using Lots of Letters set.

Now it is time to send you on your merry way--so you can check out the beautiful projects on these blogs:

Today, the design team is sharing projects created with Elegant Florals and Sentimental Holiday. Here are my projects for today-

First up- a tag featuring Elegant Florals:

I love these silhouetted stems.  And I love tags. Put them together---I am one happy gal!  I added a bit of Jute twine to the top of the ribbon on this tag.

...And another card using Elegant Florals:

For this card, I changed up the color palette and made a more colorful creation.  The stem is stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink on Ivory cardstock.  This one is easy card to mass produce!

Next, a card using Sentimental Holiday:
I clear embossed the snowflakes from the set on Kraft cardstock.  I embossed that gorgeous sentiment with white embossing powder and then I punched out the snowflake shape and adhered some black vinyl under it to keep with the neutral palette.  The base is Pure Luxury ivory cardstock.

..And another card with Sentimental Holiday:
This card was super simple---just stamped the tree using Memento Cottage Ivy ink on Pure Luxury white cardstock and then used a black pen to draw the border around the edge of the card.  I stamped the sentiment in Memento tuxedo black.  Then I stamped the stars in Memento Cantaloupe and Memento Dandelion.  I punched a star to add to the tree and topped it off with a rhinestone.

That is it for me today.  Head on over to these blogs to see some amazing projects:

Gina K Inspiration Hop Day 1

Hello........and welcome to the Inspiration Hop for Gina K Designs!

And as you hop through the participating blogs, make sure to leave a comment on each of them because we will choose a few random comments and those stampers will each win a grab bag of Gina K. Designs products! To see the full list of winners check the Big News forum at Stamp TV a few days after the hops.

Today, the team is sharing projects using Lots of Letters and Warm Woolen Mittens.  Here are my projects-

First a card using Lots of Letters:
I love these lower case letters.  They are fun and trendy and you can make the perfect sentiment for any card.  I chose to make a Valentine for this card and stamped the circle designs in Memento tuxedo black ink before embossing the letters in white on top.  For the center heart, I stamped the outline and then added the metal heart.  Lovin' these letters and all the ways you can mix and match them with their borders.

Next is a card featuring Warm Woolen Mittens.  This set is just fantastic for winter greetings.  And I love that the patterns in the set can be used for all occasions. (You will see them making an appearance a few times this week:)

I cut the mittens from Ivory cardstock using my Silhouette and then stamped the patterns on the cut outs using Memento teal zeal ink.  This allowed me to create a perfect set of mittens to hang on my card.  For the sentiment, I did the same--printed the outline of the sentiment using Becky's cut file and then stamped the sentiment on it.

Next, I have a shaped card using Warm Woolen Mittens.  This time I focused on the backgrounds to create the bottom section of the card:

I stamped the sentiment using before adding some wooden trees over the patterns.  Finally, I added some rhinestones along the center stamped pattern.

Last, I have a super simple card featuring Lots of Letters and Warm Woolen Mittens:
For this card, I stamped the pattern from Warm Woolen Mittens and then stamped the sentiment using Lady Bug Memento ink on Ivory cardstock.  I added the string behind the front panel of the card to string an ornament.  Easy! (Although it is not an easy card to mail, it would be easy to put into a box with a gift!)

That is it from me today!  Check out all the amazing inspiration on these blogs:
