A Yucky and a Yummy!

Now you can see why I NEVER worry when my husband leaves the house....

Snort! This is what he wears to go on his two hour bike rides. (Check out the tiny rear view mirror attached to the helmet!) BTW--my husband KNEW I was posting this and gave me his blessing. It was my revenge for the sign he bought me last week. Sadly, my husband does not see what is so funny about this picture....

I received another "You Make My Day" Award on Friday. This time it was from my friend Melanie Muenchinger, another illustrator for Gina K Designs. Thanks Melanie--you rock and I am in awe of your talent. Thanks for making my day!

Ok...onto a project. I have a group of friends on Splitcoaststampers that I do challenges with every Monday. This week was a supply challenge. My friend Tosh sent us all this little acrylic heart embellishment (you can see it in the center of the jar!) and we had to make something with it. Since the directions for the challenge were not with my embellishment (or anyone else's!) I am assuming we just had to use it!

So I did. I had wanted to make a treat jar using a frappachino jar for awhile.

I found out a great trick for removing the label sticky residue and the sell by date stamp. Just rub Mr. Clean Magic eraser over the jar and the stickiness comes right off.....as does any other markings on the bottle!

Another tip: After you clean out the jar, use your heat tool to get the inside nice and dry, otherwise the m&ms will get all smeary and yucky. (Don't ask me how I know that!)

I used leftover paper I had from another project and my slit punch to create the piece that wraps around the jar. The love sentiment is from Gina K Designs "Rectangle Greetings." I added the pink brad in the center of the love...for cuteness!
Here is a few of the top of the jar. For the top, I used Gina K Designs "Punchy Words" set. I love this greeting and I love how nicely it fits on top of this jar.

Here is a close up view of the lid:

Materials used: stamps-Punchy Words, Rectangle Greetings (Gina K Designs); ink-red, pretty in pink; cardstock-red, designer paper from American Crafts, white; circle punch (SU!); scalloped circle punch (SU!); slit punch (SU!); heart punch (Martha Stewart); pink brads (SU!); ribbon (SU!); dimensionals (SU!); clear acryllic heart embellishment (unknown).

Update: ALL stamps from my stamp sale are in the mail! Thanks!

Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for the Magic Eraser tip. I stopped altering these jars because I got tired of the stickies. I may just have to go buy some more frappichino now! What sacrifices we need to make in the name of stamping.....

This is sooo cute! I love that heart 'dangling' from the lid! Thanks for the Magic Eraser tip... I usually use Goo Gone, which works fine, but doesn't smell all that great.

I love your little valentine treat jar - so cute.
Thanks for sharing.

great tip on the magic eraser! For mine I fill them with the hottest water I can get from the tap, leave them sit for a minute or two and the labels peel right off. Anything that doesn't come off I just use a greenie meanie scrubby. I will have to try the magic eraser instead. The hot water makes the glue soften up and makes it easy to peel off the labels.

I love how your dh is dressed. :) In Athens it is important to be safe....I have known lots of people who got hit by cars & dogs while riding. College towns aren't the safest places to be for a bicyclist. TFS Jennie PS...you have seen my dh's pic while metal detecting...that is pretty nerdy.
