House Woes and an Easel Card Variation

Well....I needed a break from cleaning and planting and watering and cleaning some more.....so I made time to create a quick card.

But first, I wanted to show you a small example of WHY it is so difficult for me to get my home in showplace condition...

Exhibit A:

For those of you familiar with my blog...you are not surprised at ANYTHING my kids do. For the past week or so I have been finding these little hexagon shapes everywhere. Yesterday, there were several lined up very nicely in our downstairs bathroom on the mirror. What are they? They are the little cushion stoppers from all of our kitchen cabinets (so they don't make a loud sound when you close them.)

Dumb mommy didn't figure out what they were until finding these.....(and she had already thrown out all the other ones that kept appearing out of nowhere!) Oopsie!

I am just hoping that no one opens our cabinets now...BANG!

Oh well....Here is a card I created using this adorable stamp from Stampendous called "Changito B-day." These guys are too cute. You can find this (and many other Changito stamps at Stamper's Dream.)

This card is designed a little different. I created an easel card a long time ago when I made a card front that was much bigger and I needed a way to attach the front panel to a back one. Sooo....I used my word window punch from Stampin' Up! to create the easel top that connected the front and back. I love the design and have used it for lots of cards (even ones that are standard size!)

So, I decided to use the same idea to make this. The card is actually the small matted image part. I used the easel design to make just that section open so that you can view the message.

Although you cannot tell in the first picture, I cut small little slits all around the chocolate mats (the outer one and the one for the opening.) It adds a fun whimsical touch (you cannot see the fringe on the image one very well in the first photo--check out the second photo for a better view of it!)

I used some small prima flowers and little mini brads from Queen & Co. to adorn the word window punch top.

From this picture, you cannot even tell that the inside panel is the one that opens:

Here is the card with the panel open. I covered the back of the front panel with the same designer paper that I used on the base of the card.

Materials used: Stamps-Changito B-day (Stampendous available at Stamper's dream); ink-brilliance black; cardstock-white, choc chip, SU designer paper; brads (SU!); primas; small choc brads (Queen & Co.); word window punch (SU!); scissors; Prismacolor pencils; odorless mineral spirits; Copics (olive, pea green); sewing machine.
Thanks for stopping by!

Just a thought - but the extra rubber from around Stampin' Up! stamps makes great door bumpers. Just cut a rectangle, remove the paper and stick it's great!!!

I don't know how you do it all -- you're amazing! :)

Very, very cute card. The idea of using leftover rubber is genius. I was going to suggest getting a set of geometric shapes for the kids to play with Ü I laughed about that one!

Hi Cammie! Great Changuitos I love Stampendous they have fun cute stamps. I sympathize with ya on the kiddos, yeaterday as I finished vacuum the floor my 2 year old cute boy came inside from his sandbox and emptied his full of sand rain boots on the floor, then looked at me and said: "here mami feed the vacuum cleaner".... and people wonder why I can be seen every night running 3-4 miles.

The other day, as I was making a sandwhich, I was tickled by the fact that there was this horrible, ghastly pitchfork type weapon with a big, leering skull in the middle of it on the counter. I got tickled because, as the mother of three boys, there's something horrible almost everywhere I look, usually I don't even notice it!

Great card-clever design!

Had never heard of an easel card but you should have been here when I scrolled down. OOOOOooooOOOO! Ok, I admit, it's the little things that get me! Those monkeys are too cute for words! Loved your kiddo story. Don't they just keep ya hoppin'? At least mine do! :-)

That is TOO funny about the bumpers missing from the cabinets now! Reminds me of this wooden piece we found a few months ago...had no idea what it was so we threw it away. Of course, we later found a chunk of our table missing!! Oops! Love the monkeys and the fringe on the card is adorable!

It's like your kids were leaving you little treats here and there - that's too funny! My nephew, who I watch during the week, is into removing the circle felt things we put on the feet of our furniture to protect our wood floors - he thinks they make the coolest stickers.

Anyway, love your card and those little monkeys are just too sweet!

This image is great! And that easel card, amazing! I may have to give that a try.

Sorry to hear your cabinet door woos! I hope they don't BANG too loud! Good luck!

Oh I am glad I'm beyond the stage of parenting where you find interesting things around the house....my daughter once went around our entire basement drawing an X in permanent marker on all the things she knew she wasn't suppose to draw on. ARGGGGGHHH! Now, with teens, there are different sorts of surprises. Makes life intersting... and gives ya something to giggle at later...
Anyway, love these little monkeys. Joan

such a cute card! what a great fold!! Ahh the little cherubs...you could also use the pads they put on chair legs to prevent scratching the floor.

It's pretty clever, you can't even see that the card opens! :-) I love the little fringes, always a nice little detail on your card... ;-)
I have the same door stoppers so I recognized the weird caterpillar in the 1st pic... mine fall off all by themselves, or so I choose to believe!... :-D
