A Birthday Wish...

A friend of mine wrote to me recently and asked if I would post a link to the Need a Lift thread she created on Splitcoaststampers. She started a thread in order to shower her friend Shelly with cards and prayers because she is fighting advanced stage breast cancer. The cancer has spread throughout her body and no treatments are working. Shelly has four children a wonderful husband and, according to Tammy, is the "sweetest person you would ever want to meet."

Tears fell down my face as I read her plea for cards. I created this bookmark for her so that she can see it every time she reads and feel the prayers that so many are saying for her healing.

Here is what I would LOVE for my birthday this year--- I KNOW from the tons of cards I have received in the past year how sweet and caring you all are. If you could find the time to send Shelly a card, I know it would mean the world to her. You can find the address and Tammy's post here!

Thanks so much!

This bookmark was created using the new set from Gina K Designs called Comfort & Peace. I cut a confetti piece of cardstock for the base of the card. After stamping the sentiment in the center, I colored the flowers with Stampin' Up! markers and misted them and stamped. This gave the images a nice watercolored effect. Then, I sponged the edges and applied a layer of glassy glaze.

After matting the bookmark on olive cardstock, I attached the robin's nest embellishments to the flower centers and added the jumbo eyelet and fibers.

Here is a close up of the details.

Materials used: Stamps-Comfort & Peace (Gina K Designs); Stampin' Up! markers; cardstock-confetti, olive, choc chip (Stampin' Up!); Mister bottle (Ranger); Robin's nest embellishments; versamark; heat tool; glossy glaze; jumbo eyelet (SU!); fibers (Basic Grey-Lily Kate); glue dots (SU!); Scor Tape (Scor-Pal).

Thanks for stopping by!

The bookmark is so beautiful. Shelly will just love it. But even far more beautiful is the heart with which you created it. What a kind and generous soul you are my darling Cammie! I can't believe that you took your birthday and made it about my sweet Shelly. What a blessing. As I mentioned in my email to you directly. God smiles at you today and so do I! :o)
With love and gratitude for all you do,
Tammy

I have already sent Shelly a card but I just wanted to post a comment here to tell you how wonderful it is that you posted this to your blog and that it will bring more attention to Tammy's request for cards for her friend Shelly. It's such a sad sad thing.

Hugs to you!

This is so sad! :-(
I will send a card to Shelly and keep her in my prayers and I posted the link for Tammy's thread on my blog. There isn't much traffic there but it can still touch a few more people.

♥Happy Birthday to big hearted You!♥

Thank you so much for posting this. I don't have near enough time to browse threads on splitcoast like I used to. I still just love your blog and all of the beautiful things you create. I am happy to honor your birthday by sending a card to Shelly. That is such a sweet thing to ask. Shelly is traveling a hard road. A card and prayers are the least I can do.

Cammie, I love coming to your blog because I either leave creatively inspired or spiritually moved - thank you so much for being you and hope that you're blessed with as much as you give to others.

I will make a card as soon as I get my new Gina stamps and send it along to Shelly - thanks for posting the thread!
