The Inspector, WITH my underwear, IN the Pantry

How is that for a mystery ????

Here is what happened......We just signed the "Intent of Sale" for our house and I was told that sometime in the next seven days an inspector would be coming to the house. My realtor told me that they should be calling to schedule the appointment very soon.

Yesterday, around lunchtime, I hear the doorbell. I was working on this project for the MFT kickoff and my daughter was asleep....Guess who it was? Yep....the inspectors.

Not a big deal. After a quick call to verify who they were, I got my daughter up and we vacated the premises for a few hours. I wish I had some warning but the house was not looking too bad so I didn't worry about it too much.

Well, I get home after picking my son up from school and find my laundry (including some underwear--!) folded on top of my washing machine. I didn't think much of it..figured my 11 year old must have somehow got in there and folded it for me (yeah right!)

After I questioned her about it (and got the answer I was inspecting "No way!") I realized what must have happened......

The Inspector, WITH my underwear, IN the Pantry

The inspectors had to test everything in the house--the dishwasher, oven and even the washer/dryer hook-ups so they had to run the appliances. I guess rather than toss my laundry aside, they decided to nicely fold the items and place them on top. (Shaking my head!)--I can just see the two men folding my underwear----GASP! (Just another reason why you should always have nice underwear!)

Well, just to finish the story on a good note---here is the project that I finally finished just minutes before the release party!

"Can Ya Dig It?"----I created this to showcase the newest release from My Favorite Things, I created a little gardener's pot--filled with paper flowers, vegetable seeds, stakes for marking plants, and a card.

The pot is a 4" unfinished pot that I panted with red acrylic paint. The flowers are made with SU circle and tab punches. The polka dots are stamped with the pattern from Behind the Scenes. (I also used this polka dotted pattern on the card and around the pot!)

REMOVED FOR PUBLICATION
Here is a close up of the card that is inside:
The hat is paper pieced. I used the new Simply Spring digital papers for that and for the background. (I love being able to print what I need out of my computer!) TIP: When paper piecing, make sure to cut out the object on the outside of the black stamped line because it will cover the original much better.
The grass is just a piece of cardstock that I cut with my scissors. I added some primas (that I colored with my red Copic marker!) to the hat.
The strip of polka dots matches the polka dots in the flower and on the pot.

Here is a view of the pot without the card---so you can see the vegetable seeds tucked behind it:

REMOVED FOR PUBLICATION
Here is a close up of the garden stakes. I picked these stakes up at the Target $1 spot! I stamped the images on Waterproof labels and then cut the label to the size I wanted it. I used snap stamps for the carrots label and the accessory stamps from the "Can you dig it?" to create these plant markers. TIP: Make sure you stamp on the correct side of the label! (I had to do the Carrots one twice because the first time I stamped on the back--duh!)

REMOVED FOR PUBLICATION
Materials used: Can Ya Dig It?, Behind the Scenes (My Favorite Things); Karen Foster snap stamps; Waterproof labels (Gina K Designs); brilliance black ink; classic stamp pads- red, olive, soft sky (Stampin' Up!); cardstock-white, celery, red (SU!); dp--Spring digital paper pack-houndstooth (My Favorite Things); Copic markers; Prismacolor pencils; Odorless mineral spirits; stakes (Target); 4 " flower pot (Michaels); red acryllic paint; wood dowels; ribbon- red gingham (SU!); green (Papertrey Ink); button (foofala); circle punchs, tab punch, slit punch, word window punch (Stampin' Up!), styrafoam ball; crinkle paper; dimensionals and pop dots (SU!); little prima flowers; small brads (Queen & Co.); paper piercing tool and mat pack (SU!).

Thanks for stopping by!

Ok, that is too funny about about the inspector. Wierd but funny! Even funnier thinking an 11 year old would of done it, lol. Not in this house either.

This is so cute!!! The wheels are turning in my brain. A bit squeaky, but they are turning. Need to figure out who I could make something like this for. TFS

Everytime I go there, I'm always in such a hurry that I just pick up what I need the scurry away...I need to take some time to brouse so I can find cool things like these acrylic stakes...after your blog post, I'm sure there won't be any left in the St. Louis area! (I can just see everyone running and picking them all up - like they do the mailboxes & metal buckets...lol)

Love your project, makes me want to mess around in the yard or in some ink LOL.
Oh how I would love to be a fly on the wall when those guys were folding your underwear. I am not sure what would be worse, that they folded it or just threw it in a pile. I am pretty sure I would take them folding it, as it would be one less load for me to do ha ha!
Thanks for the story and cute project.

Awesome, AWESOME project!!!! Wow!! (And the inspector's folding your laundry...first of all, that's amazing that a man would voluntarily do that, but maybe it's more exciting to fold someone else's clothes than your own? EEk. lol.)
