Gina K. Designs Preview Day #1....And Some WCMD blog candy!

Today begins the first preview day for Gina K Designs! Gina will be releasing the new sets after the release party HERE on Thursday night from 7-10 p.m. (central time).

The first set I am previewing is one by Rupa Shevde called The Magic of Christmas! This set is gorgeous---filled with so many elegant holiday stamps it will make your head spin. (In fact, I really had a hard time deciding what to use for the preview!)

The two different snowflakes are from the set as well as the gorgeous Dove and the sentiment. (The dove stamp actually has greenery in his mouth but I just cut that part off for my sample!)

REMOVED FOR PUBLICATION
I really wanted to make an elegant card for this preview so I kept the design very simple. I love all the gold accents.

One of my favorite parts of this card is the gorgeous RIBBON!!! Wow--I ADORE it. Gina K is releasing an assortment of beautiful ribbons in her store on Thursday too, along with some other awesome embellishments, clear boxes, cd cases...etc.

Materials used: Stamps-The Magic of Christmas (Rupa Shevde for Gina K Designs); cardstock-white, brushed gold (Stampin' Up!); Designer paper-Blitzen Collection-Polar Blue, ? Snowflake (Basic Grey); ribbon (Gina K Designs); Copic Marker; gold embossing powder, clear embossing powder (Stampin' Up!); Heat tool; Versamark; Spellbinders decorative photo corner Shapeablities die, ribbon tags trio ; Cuttlebug (Provocraft); dimensionals (SU!).

Check out the other design team member's blogs to see what they are previewing today!!!
and of course, Gina Krupsky!

MFTeaser #1 and other fun things to share....

Hi Everyone! This will be a busy blogging week because both My Favorite Things AND Gina K Designs have their new releases this week! MFT release is on Wednesday and Gina K is on Thursday!

Today I want to share my first MFTeaser with you. This darling image is one from the MFT Presents line and it is called A Scarf for Three (by Stephanie Fizer). I just love this image.

I stamped the image three times (once on white cardstock for the base and two other times on the red and blue cardstock). I pieced different parts of the image and then used my Copics to color some areas.
The little charm and sentiment sticker is from an awesome embellishment kit called Boxes of Bling, which you can also find at My Favorite Things.

Here is a close up of the image. This is one of my favorite color combinations for holiday cards. I just love the red and blue together!

Materials used: Stamps-A Scarf for Three (MFT Presents-Stephanie Fizer); ink- Memento Tuxedo Black; Copic markers; cardstock-riding hood red, blue bayau, whisper white (Stampin' Up!); Boxes of Bling (Pine Cone Press); ribbon (Make it Christmas-Hobby Lobby); white gel pen (Stampin' Up!); paper piercing tool and mat pack (Stampin' Up!); silver cord (Stampin' Up!); Cuttlebug and Snowflake embossing folder (Provocraft); Corner punch (EK Success); dimensionals (SU!).

Join us HERE on Wednesday night, October 1 from 8-10 (Central time) for lots of MFTeasers, challenges and prizes. Come see all the fun new sets (and another MUST have product for all your MFT stamps!) Also, find out how you can become the next MFTGuest Designer. Hope to see you there!

Since it is Monday, it means that it is time for another CCEE challenge again. This week we had to Shape it Up, Baby! Since this was my month for assigning the challenges (insert evil laugh) I had everyone make one of my favorite types of cards---a shaped card. The catch was that we could not make a circle card...we had to get a bit more creative!
You can view all of the marvelous shaped cards on the CCEE Blog. Hope you will play along!

Here is a peek at my card:

Finally, if you get a chance, stop by the Craft Critique blog today. I wrote an article on Kodak EasyShare Software that should be posted at some point!

Ok...that is it! Whew! Stop back tomorrow for a sneak peek at a new set from Gina K Designs...(You're gonna love it!)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

A Treat and a Winner!

Thanks for all the prayers for my friend's family. It was an emotional day ---The services for baby Anna were today and it was such a sweet and heartfelt tribute to an adorable angel.

Please continue to keep them in your prayers.

I apologize that this is late. But, before I announce the blog candy winner......I have a little treat to show you. I created this last month for the Gina K Designs release using Whimsical Autumn and So Grateful. I love combining these sets because the images go so well together.

I thought it would be cute to create a treat pouch holder for nuts using the acorn stamps. I used the tutorial you can view here, but altered it by cutting off the top two triangles and then adding the scalloped strip and handle. I used the Squirrel image for this and added the sentiment from Whimsical Autumn.
Ok.....now onto what you have been waiting for......
First, I want to show you what 105 pages of comments looks like--ready for the random draw. It took almost as much time to print them out and cut them up and fold them as it did to write the Heart to Heart post (MANY HOURS) !

And here is Random.Cara all smiles as she knows she is about to give someone an early Christmas!

And the winner is:

Amber
What a great cause!
Here is my card http://so manycolorssolittletime.blogspot.com/2008/09/world-alzheimers-day.html

Congratulations Amber! Please email me with your contact information.
THANK YOU so much for all those who donated to the blog candy and for all those who participated in this challenge. I am still trying to get to many many cards and take a look---with over 500 emails a day this past week--It has been impossible to keep up. But, I KNOW that your cards will bring great joy to the recipients. SO THANK YOU.
Stay tuned: Sneak peeks at the new releases from My Favorite Things and Gina K Designs this week!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope those who are new to this blog because of the Heart to Heart blog candy stop by again!

Prayer request....

Thank you so much for wholeheartedly embracing the Heart to Heart Challenge. I am only quickly posting to ask for some prayers. Our friends Christine and Caedmon lost their daughter, Anna, this morning. She was only 13 months old. This is such a sad time....so forgive me if I take awhile to respond to questions or comments. Please know that I will read every post.

Please keep them in your prayers.

HEART TO HEART Blog Candy

WOW! I just cannot believe how big this got. As most of you know by now, I recently released my newest set through Gina K Designs called Whimsical Autumn, which benefits the Alzheimer's Association. My grandmother passed away in June from complications of this horrible disease and I wanted to try to help in any little way I could. I recently found out that today is World Alzheimer’s Day. The Board of Directors of the Alzheimer’s Association DOUBLED all donations given up until today so I asked Gina for some preliminary figures. After just two weeks, lots of sets have been sold. On Friday, I sent over my first commission--$450. So the first contribution ended up being $900! I am thrilled.

100% of my proceeds from this set will always go to the Alzheimer’s Association, but it was so much fun to send that first donation over. Here is the email I received after my donation:

Dear Carolyn,

Thank you for your friendship to the Alzheimer's Association. Your donation of $450.00 to our World Alzheimer's Day campaign is greatly appreciated and will be used to help fund vitally needed programs and services as well as critical Alzheimer research.
Your help is appreciated now more than ever. There are an estimated 5 million Americans currently affected, with another person developing Alzheimer's every 71 seconds ... By mid-century, someone will develop the disease every 33 seconds unless we do something.
Alzheimer's disease is an escalating epidemic due to our aging population. In fact, 10 million baby boomers will develop Alzheimer's disease in their lifetime.
Because of your gift today, we are one step closer to ensuring that more of us - our parents, ourselves, and our children - can grow older without fearing this devastating disease.

Sincerely,
Alzheimer's Association

So thank YOU! Because today is World Alzheimer’s Day, I wanted to do something special for another group of people who are affected by this disease---the caregivers. What began as a little idea----totally GREW! My hope was to get a few contributions from some stamping companies so that I would have a very cool prize to give away to one lucky winner who participated. AS you might have heard----the little prize turned into a GINORMOUS one! So many fabulous companies came forward and offered to contribute. I am so thankful to them.

In addition, I contacted a few WONDERFUL stamping friends to ask them if they would send a card (signed on the back) to add to the blog candy. Although I only asked a few people (and not my buddies out of the country because of the timing)—I had so many sweet emails and tons of handmade TREASURES donated by some of the best stampers/cardmakers out there!

So........ONE LUCKY PERSON WILL WIN OVER $1,000 in prizes PLUS ALL THE AMAZING HANDMADE GIFTS AND CARDS!!!!!!

I have been asked by a few people if I was planning on spreading out the prizes since it ended up being so huge….and I decided that I am going to stick with the original plan---that ONE person wins it all. Every person who plays along will receive a gift—the gift of making some person feel so special. But, I wanted this to be a big prize so that a lot of people play along. And, part of the fun of this blog candy is that whoever wins will be showered with gifts. I have a lot of them at my home and so the winner will receive a HUGE box from me. But some companies are sending out their own and many are gift certificates (as noted in the descriptions below) so the winner will be receiving goodies in the mail for a LONG TIME. How fun will that be?

***Before I get to the how you can win, I wanted to share that the Flourishes Design team all purchased the Whimsical Autumn set and are posting creations that they have made with this set today. Flourishes is one of the companies that donated to the cause and wanted to help generate more cards for this drive and so they took it one step further---please check out this link to see all of their fabulous cards. ((((Flourishes)))))

HOW YOU CAN ENTER TO WIN:
Because of the size of this blog candy, I am going to be strict about the rules! Please follow the all the directions to be entered. You may only enter one time per person but you can make as many cards as you want!

1. In celebration of World Alzheimer’s Day, we are reaching out to some amazing people who deserve to be thanked. ….the caregivers. Caring for an Alzheimer’s patient is HARD work and an often thankless job. There are so many people who help and so—I am asking you to make a card for a caretaker of a person affected with Alzheimer’s. Yes, you can send it to someone you know. If you do not know anyone to send a card to you can send it to the address below (this is the home my grandmother lived in for the last few years of her life. The nurses, aids and support staff there were tremendous. It is such a difficult job and I would love to see them showered with cards!)

To the Staff at the Artman Home
250 N. Bethlehem Pike
Ambler, PA 19002

2. Reread the donations above. I really want you to look at all the companies and individuals who gave to this important cause....cause they ROCK!

3. If you have a blog, please mention this blog candy on it. The hope is to generate as many cards as we can for those who could use a lift. If you do not have a blog, that is fine...just mention it when you upload your card. If you cannot upload your card (because you do not know how) that is fine. Just tell someone about this!)

Please, only one entry per person. In your comment please link your card and also list three companies and two individuals who have donated to the blog candy. Finally, be sure to link this post to your blog and spread the word! Don’t forget to include your email address so I can contact you if you win!

Your entry should look something like this:
Here is my card http://mycardrocks.com/ (FYI---not a real card!)

The entries will be printed out, cut up and RANDOM.CARA will pick the winner out of a box. (I will take pictures!) The winner will be posted on Saturday morning. (EDIT: Winner will be posted Saturday afternoon as I have an out of town funeral to attend in the morning. Sorry for the delay...)

I will not be posting on my blog for the next few days so that this stays on top. Everyone is eligible to play (even those who donated prizes.) The only person who cannot win is me.
