A Very Special Sale

I had my blog post all ready to go when I got an email from my friend Kim telling me a friend of hers passed away. Tish had been battling a rare form of ovarian cancer--many of us had sent her cards when Kim first learned about her disease. Sadly, Tish passed away Tuesday leaving behind her husband and two young children.

Kim at My Favorite Things is having a sale to benefit the family. Starting tomorrow, she is offering a 10% discount on ALL stamps on the site. Use the coupon code Tish at checkout to receive 10% off all all the stamps in your shopping cart. (It won’t discount your other merchandise, just stamps.) The coupon code will run from Tuesday, April 15th-Friday, April 18th. Kim is going to donate 10% of ALL proceeds (including money spent on other items on the site) to the family at their April 26th benefit. I cannot think of a better reason to shop. My heart just breaks thinking about those children...
Check out Kim's post on her blog here.

(((Kim)))--what a wonderful thing to do--you are one of the most sweet and generous people I know.

*****
I didn't have too much time to play today---after dh returned we sort of just let the house go---so I had to play catch up and put everything back in its proper place (just in case someone comes to see the house!)

This card features the April release from My Favorite Things called Happy Mother's Day! I love this big stamp--the words around the edges are so lovely. Many times I have tried to just use the inside image---and I can't because I love the whole image together.

The image was stamped in brilliance black on white cardstock. I stamped the image again on yellow designer paper. The inside image was water colored and I used my Copic markers on the leaves. The image was cut out and placed on the frame of words. I framed the image again using my rectangle Nestabilities (Tip: If you buy the rectangle Nestabilties--they can be used to make all kinds of shapes, including squares. Simply cut off a few scallops and reassemble. Place a ribbon where the pieces join!)

The background was stamped with Behind the Scenes. I love this set--it is full of beautiful accents that can be used to easily dress up a card. This set is on sale this month over at My Favorite Things.

Materials used: Stamps-Happy Mother's Day, Behind the Scenes (My Favorite Things); cardstock-white, red (Stampin' Up!); dutch girl by Cosmo Crickett; ink-Brillance black, red; watercolors; Copic markers; white gel pen (SU!); ribbon (Papertrey Ink); Cuttlebug and Rectangle Nestabililties; dimensionals (SU!); corner rounder punch (Creative Memories).

Edited to add: I created this card before I heard about Tish. I almost changed the post but then changed my mind---I think this card is a very fitting tribute honoring a wonderful mom.

Thanks for stopping by!

I'm so glad you didn't change the card, it's a bright, beautiful card and a wonderful tribute. Thanks for posting about the MFT sale and Kim's donations. Things like this remind me of how important these little blogs of ours have become. We can do good things together, even if we can't do lunch!
