Charm for Charmaine

Thanks so much for all of your prayers during hurricane Ike. Because the storms veered off to the right, we had only small winds but we have lots of Baytown area evacuees (who are living in my stamp room right now!!). Baytown was hit hard but luckily my in-laws house did not have any water damage...just trees down and loss of power. Continued prayers for all those affected by this hurricane.

But, I did plan ahead for my Monday CCEE challenge (whew!) so I have this card to share today. Once a month our CCEE group selects one person from SCS with a fun sign on name and makes cards for him or her. This week, the CNFS (Catchy Name Featured Stamper) is "Charmwarm"! The challenge for our group was to create a card with a charm on it....the catch is that it has to be a hand-made charm (not a purchased one!)

Here is my card for Charmaine:

I used the My Favorite Things set called Rain or Shine for this card. My Favorite Things is starting some fun weekly challenges in their forum on SCS. Today's challenge is to use this set with some bling! I blinged up the dog collar and also added some bling on the top hinges.

You can check out all the fun new challenges (and prizes!) here.

Here is a close up of the charm I created. I used a metal rimmed tag and added an extra set of boots on it. (Just in case the boots she is wearing get too wet!)

The puddle is outlined with a light blue Copic marker and then covered with Crystal Stickles (so it looks like a sparkly puddle!)

You can also see the little bling collar on the pup! Gotta love a blinged-out dog!

Materials used: Stamps-Rain or Shine (My Favorite Things); Memento tuxedo black ink; Copic markers; Chocolate chip stamp pad (Stampin' Up!); stickles-crystal (Ranger); mini rhinestones (the Paper Studio); cardstock-vanilla, white (Stampin' Up!); Designer paper-Brunch Collection-Sky (Crate Paper); ribbon (Dots, Dashes & Checks); metal rimmed tag (Office Depot); silver eyelet (SU!); corner rounder punch (Creative Memories); Cropadile; brads (Stampin' Up!); Circle and rectangle nestabilities (Spellbinders); Cuttlebug (Provocraft); Dimensionals (SU!).

Update on HEART TO HEART blog candy: Because I have had a few emails, I want to clarify that all of the blog candy details will be announced on September 21 (National Alzheimer's Day). The post will include HOW to win as well as a list of all the sponsors, donors and friends who have contributed. As of right now, the blog candy is worth well over $700. It will literally take me hours to list the photos of prizes and donations for it (I am serious!) I have added another FUN element to it and I am so grateful to all of the extraordinary stampers who have graciously offered their services (and have gone above and beyond!) I cannot wait to announce it all....YOU WILL BE FLOORED. Special thanks again to all who have offered their support.

****More details to come....STAY TUNED (giggle! I am SOO EXCITED!)

Thanks for stopping by!

What a cute card! I love the bling and the rain and puddle effect is great!

I'll be coming back on the 21st to see what all the excitement is about. LOL... that's one day after my birthday! And I think it's so cool that you are helping raise money for the Alzheimner's association. My husband's grandmother died from that disease and it's a horrible way to go.

ps
I purchased your Whimsical Autumn set and can't wait to use it. Great set and so cool that you are donating 100% of proceeds to Alzheimer's association.

Carolyn, my apologies for providing credit to the wrong blog, I can be a space case at times! I think I have made the appropriate corrections. Now, I'll update my automated blog emails to include your blog. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction and again, kudos on your successful awareness program, it certainly made me think. If this becomes an annual process (hint hint) please let me know. I'll see what I can offer as part of the next blog offering.
