Gina K PREVIEW day 2

Hello! Today is day two of the sneak peeks for the new Gina K release (on Thursday!). The design team is showing samples of two new sets today: the new set by Rupa called Home Tweet Home and a set by Gina called Tropical Flowers.

I am previewing Tropical Flowers. With the name of this set, I automatically thought of creating a tropical card, but I wanted to use this set in a more romantic way (thinking that someone would likely show you this set with a tropical feel.) So, I created a tag using these silhouetted flowers:
This was simple to create. I started with a purchased tag (Paper reflections) and I sponged the whole tag with barely banana (SU!) ink. I purposefully left it quite blotchy and because it is a light color--it looked mottled but still nice. Then I inked the edges of the tag with more mustard (SU!) ink, using a sponge and brushing the sides so that the ink overlapped onto the tag too. I sponged a bit around the outside edges of the tag as well.
TIP: When sponging darker colors, dip the sponge in the ink pad and then blot it off once or twice on a scrap page before sponging on your project. You will be less likely to get yucky blotches of color that way.

After I was happy with the sponging, I inked French Script (SU!) backgrounder with frayed burlap (Ranger) distress ink pad and stamped on the tag. I inked the flowers from Tropical Flowers in Vintage Photo (Ranger) distress ink and stamped over the tag. I used the little flower clusters to line the bottom and I stamped this part twice to create more depth. I stamped the smaller flower (that matches the larger one) on scrap paper and outlined it with Chocolate Chip SU marker. I cut it out, added the brad and adhered it over the first flower for some depth.

Finally I stamped the sentiment (from Christmas Blessings set) and added the hardware. I looped the key charm around some hemp and let it dangle and then added the ribbon tie. Very simple!

Materials used: Tropical Flowers, Christmas Blessings (Gina K Designs), French Script (SU!); inks-barely banana, more mustard, Choc chip marker (Stampin' Up), Frayed Burlap, Vintage Photo (Ranger); tag-Paper Reflections; cardstock- choc chip (SU!); brad-American Traditional; sponge (SU!); oval punch (SU!); key charm-Sensational Beads-Oriental Trading Co.; hemp- Hobby Lobby; hardware-Stampin' Up!); ribbon- May Arts; dimensional (SU!).
