Wish BIG

Good morning!  Ok...sorry.  ONE more cross stitch card.๐Ÿ˜  It has been so fun playing with this Paper Smooches die that I have had a hard time putting it down:)  I tried a tougher stamped image on this one---was fun to try to figure out where to put shadows so he didn't look like a blob.

For this, I die cut the grid then stamped the elephant image from Huge Hugs. Then, I used embroidery floss to fill in the color.

Stitchy Flowers

Hello:)  Back again with another cross stitched card.   I used the flower image from Blossoming Buds for this card.  This was the first card I made with the cross stitch die and I don't know what possessed me to pick such a detailed image.  This card was my test dummy๐Ÿ˜œ.  (I made all the mistakes I mentioned in my previous post on this card.)  But it turned out fine.

The only thing I did differently on this card is that after I stamped the flower image and then stitched the design, I did back the panel with some white cardstock to keep the white look of it.  If you notice on my pineapple card, the panel is not backed with cardstock to let the base color show through.  I just wanted a different look on this one.  Looks more like authentic cross stitch when you back it.

For this card, I used:

Sew Thankful

Hello!  So I got this new die from Paper Smooches this week and I am in love with it.  It is the cross stitch die...basically punches all the holes so you can use it as a cross stitch grid or for a fun background.  When I got it, I jumped right into my craft room to give it a whirl.  This is the second card I created with it.  The first card will be on my blog shortly...as I haven't photographed it yet.
Anyway, I die cut the cross stitch grid and then stamped the pineapple image from Pineapple Crush onto the grid in light yellow ink.  Then I used some embroidery floss to fill in the colors.  (I seriously have cross stitched only one thing in my life so if I can do it, anyone can๐Ÿ˜›)

For this card, I used:

Here are some tips for using the Cross Stitch die:
1. Layer a piece of cardstock under the paper you are trying to die cut.  When you do this, most of those little tiny circles will stick to the cardstock underneath so you don't have to go poking out a million holes.
2. Since you are creating a paper grid, if you pull the thread too hard it can rip the paper.  If this happens, you do not have to scrap all the hard work you have done....simply remove the last stitch or two and reinforce area with clear tape....then re thread.  I did this on my first card and you cannot even tell that I had a snafu:)
