I heart you...make each day count!

I have to admit.....I am still stunned over the deaths of Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. I grew up with a Michael Jackson poster on my wall and stalking MTV for the "longgggg" Thriller video. And, for YEARS, my brother had a lifesized poster of Farrah in his room (right next to one of the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders). My sisters and I tried to get that trademark flip in our hair...and were obsessed with Charlie's Angels. Because they were both such a memorable part of my childhood--- It is hard to believe that these entertainment icons are gone. It is just another reminder of our fleeting time on this Earth...make each day count!

We are having a blast enjoying the HOT summer here....we have been hanging at the pool/ the lake and enjoying lots of sunshine!!! We are so excited because my 6 year old, Ben, just learned how to swim a few weeks ago and has progressed soo much over such a short time. Now if we could just get "I just drowned" Lauren (4) to swim. (Lauren LOVES to say that she "just drowned" if her head gets submerged under the water at all. Needless to say....she "drowns" a lot which doesn't make her eager to try to swim without her lifevest.)

I created this card for a pub call a while ago...and although it wasn't accepted....it is still one of my favorite designs. It just makes me happy: Materials used: cardstock: black (SU!); white 120 lb Pure Luxury (Gina K Designs); Designer paper-Colorful Paper Pack (KI Memories); I heart you rubber stamp (Stampabilities); heart punch (Marvy); clear embossing powder, white embossing powder (SU!); Heat tool; Versamark;Stapler; ribbon-turqoise, olive, celery (Stampin' UP!), red dot (Offray), other-Vacation Scrapbooking (Retail Inc); Brenda Walton adhesive rhinestones (K & Company); Paper piercing tool and mat pack (SU!); black classic marker (SU!).

Stay cool! Thanks for stopping by!

Recycled Love

Hello everyone!!! Hope you are having a great day.

I am working on my final projects for my final Dirty Dozen gallery and took a break to play with this this new set from Unity called Love Grows.

I adore this heart-y tree---So much fun to play with! The sentiment is also part of this set and there are more really cool images!!! I know I will using this a lot!

And do you see that big ole ribbon??? That was recycled from a new teen store I went to with my daughter. When you check-out, they put your items in a fun bag and tie a ribbon around it. The cute part is that they let you select the ribbon and when my daughter found that out, she said "Go ahead, Mom! Pick what YOU want!" Ahh...she knows me too well!!! I finally found the perfect home for it right on this card!

Materials used: Stamps- Love Grows (Unity Stamp Co.); Memento tuxedo black ink; white/black cardstock (Gina K Pure Luxury); Kraft Cardstock (SU!); designer paper- trad. tiny words (KI Memories), Green-Canopy: Brunch Collection (Crate); ribbon -recycled from store, gingham-Offray; key tag punch (SU!); clip (SU!); Copic red marker; black, red Stampin Up! Markers; Brenda Walton adhesive rhinestones (K & company); Raindot hearts (Gina K Designs); Cutting system (Creative Memories); paper piercing tool.

Gina K Preview Day 3

Hello! Welcome to Gina K Designs Preview Day 3! Today the design team is showing projects/cards created with the new StampTV kit called Eclectic Summer! I LOVE this kit---it has a stamp for EVERY occasion in the summer!!! (AND you know there will be lots of amazing video tutorials on StampTV using it!)

The kit includes: two stamp sets-Eclectic Summer Stamp set and Eclectic Summer Sayings Stamp set; 15 sheets of assorted Pure Luxury cardstock; 12 sheets of assorted Lime Rickey patterned paper; summer brad mix; and summer ribbon mix (lots of ribbon!).

I was actually not going to peek this fun fish today but I had to! Look at him looking at me---just begging me to use him. So I paired this fun-tastic image with one of the sentiments in the kit to create a fun whimsical anniversary card/ love card/ valentine! The fun ribbon at the top of the sentiment is just ONE of the fun ribbons that come with the kit. (If you come back tomorrow you will see HOW far this one ribbon went...and it is just one of the many included in the kit!)

I cut out a portion of the swirl cardstock to create fun waves that overlap the card borders.

There is just something about this fish.....

Materials used: Stamps-Eclectic Summer (Gina K Designs); Memento black ink; Copic markers; White cardstock (Gina K Designs); Swirl die cut-Perm Teal-pop culture (K I memories); blue cardstock (PRISM); ribbon (Gina K Designs, Eclectic Summer Stamp TV kit); tag punch (SU!); black and red markers (SU!); paper piercing tool and mat pack (SU!); oval punch (SU!); eyelet (SU!); Cropadile (We R Memory Keepers); dimensionals.

Check out these marvelous blogs for more peeks of this new kit: Erika Martin, Emily Giovanni, Jessica Fick, Joanne Basile, Theresa Momber, Melanie Muenchinger, Melissa Shultz (In the Spotlight Designer) and, of course, Gina!

Hope you will join us for lots of challenges, prizes and fun at the Gina K Designs release party on Splitcoaststampers on Thursday, May 28 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Central time!

BABY Cammie....Revealed!

Well, now that you have all had the day to look at the CCEE blog and guess who is who....we are all revealing our pics and cards/pages on our blogs today.

Yep--this is me. This was a tough project for me--as I was the seventh of eight children and I found two good pictures of me at this age--and they were both taken on the same day.
(Sigh!)

My parents don't even have a newborn hospital picture of me because "the camera was broken at the hospital that day."
When I asked my parents--"Where the heck are the pictures of me?" My mom told me that I was a "shy" baby. *lol! Yeah, you can stop laughing now!

(Seriously reconsidering the adoption possibility, if only I didn't look so much like my brother and sisters I would probably believe it!)

So this is the photo I had to work with. (I took it to the local CVS to get copies made and decided because it was a small photo..to just make some tiles of it.)

And I ended up creating a scrapbook page--proof that I existed!
At this point--you may have caught on that I bent the rules a bit. Well, I didn't bend them as much as you think! The beautiful die cut flowers are not die-cuts at all...I simply cut a portion of designer paper that came that way (KI Memories.) And the flowers aren't primas--they are not made by Prima...they are from Paper Studio (Spare Parts)! *giggle*
I did however use brads(6) and one little flower punch. (I had it on good authority that the others weren't following the rules either so I decided that if I am gonna cheat...I am gonna cheat!)

Here is a close up of the main part of the page. The quote reads "Little Girls are Heaven's Flowers." (Hence, the flower design!)

I hope you had fun with our little contest! I am still trying to figure out who everyone is!
UP NEXT: Fold Over Flap Card tutorial (finally!) and your chance to win a Scor-Mat!
