Spring Love and a Blog Candy Alert!!

Wooohooooo!!! My first card upload on my new computer.

I pulled A LOT of my hair out last night (which I will most likely send to my good buddy, Carole, who just "has a thing" for loose hair!) trying to figure this out.

With new computers comes new software, new struggles....but....I *think* I prevailed.

Anyway, I needed a break and I was in the mood to create a fun spring card and grabbed one of my favorite My Favorite Things stamps called Can Ya Dig It?
I stamped the images on some Perfect Paper Panels and I colored part of the image with Copics and then paper pieced her dress, hat, flowers. Tip: To add some dimension to your pieced image....use your marker to add some shading where natural shadows would fall.

I cut out the pot and lady to pop them up. The background was created by sponging clouds and I cut a strip of designer paper for the grass (my favorite easy way to add grass!) You can see all the places on her dress and hat where I went over the designer paper with Copic markers. Just use a slightly darker color when coloring so it shows up. You can test it on scrap paper to see if it will work with the color of the dp.

Materials used: Stamps: Can Ya Dig It? (My Favorite Things); Ink-Memento Tuxedo black, soft sky (SU!); Copic markers; Designer paper- Marrakech (Basic Grey); white cs-Perfect Paper Panels (My Favorite Things); card base- Gina K Pure Luxury; sponge; tulle; Cropadile; corner rounder punch (Creative Memories); white gel pen (Ranger); circle punch (SU!); jumbo eyelet (SU!); paper piercing tool and mat pack (SU!); foam mounting tape.

Blog Candy Alert! My sweet and AWESOME friend Deborah is giving away one of my Nurse Feelgood sets on her blog!! You can check it out HERE and also see a fabulous card she made with the set!!! Thanks Deb ((((HUGS!!!)))) Miss you!

Shiver Me Timbers...it's time for a CCEE Challenge!

Hi everyone! Good luck to everyone who entered the PaperCrafts giveaway!!! I hope you ALL win!
Today it is time for another CCEE Challenge. This week we had to "use a die, a tool, or embellishment" that we haven't used in a long time.

Well, I figured it was high time to ink up this adorable set from The Cat's Pajamas--Arrgh! Piratey.
Since I just got it..I haven't used it in awhile (giggle) :) Also, I used some fun tab tops on this card--something I did VERY often about a year ago and I always forget about doing it these days.
Finally, I wanted to challenge myself to NOT use designer paper (aside from the water of course!), since I tend to use it a lot to create the background of my cards. I used Weathered background stamp to stamp the caramel cardstock. Then I just layered the images on the front panel.

The pirate ship is another thing I have only used one time...so I thought I would throw that onto the card as well!!!

Hope you will play along in the challenge! You can see all the other CCEEers cards HERE!

Materials used: Stamps- Arrgh! Piratey (The Cat's Pajamas), Weathered (SU!); ink-Memento tuxedo black, Ranger tea dye distress ink; cardstock-caramel (Stampin' Up!), chocolate, vanilla, white (Gina K Pure Luxury); gold, platinum stickles (Ranger); eyelets (Making Memories); brads (Making Memories); hemp (Hobby Lobby); oval punch (SU!); pirate ship die (Quic Kutz); Cuttlebug (Provocraft); dimensionals; Copic markers.

In other news: My computer is slowly dying. I bought a new one so I will be working on setting it up for the next few days....yipes...I hate learning new programs but it is MUCH needed.

Thanks for stopping by!

Gina K Preview Day #4!!! Release Tonight!!

Hello! Welcome to Day 4 of the Gina K Release Preview.

First of all, thank you so much for all your sweet comments and emails regarding my new set. Totally made my day!!! ((HUGS))

Today, the design team is previewing the new set called Not Forgotten...a sentiment set full of the perfect expressions of sympathy. What makes this set so unique? It was designed so that you can send a little bit of love to someone who has lost a loved one on anniversaries, holidays or any time they might especially need to hear them....

So many people send cards when they hear that a person's loved one has passed away...but there are so many moments that come later where a card would bring such comfort.

This set couldn't have come at a better time for me...
My grandmother passed away almost a year ago...and I know my mom will need extra support when the anniversary of her death is here. Mamo LOVED the beach, in particular, the Jersey shore, where she and my grandfather had a home.

.....So I paired the Not Forgotten set with Rupa's Guiding Light set to make this:

A card that will let my mom know I am thinking of her and will hopefully bring a smile to her face.
The images are stamped on Pure Luxury Cardstock and colored with Copics. I framed the sentiment by first stamping the seagull image and then placing a Spellbinders Nestability circle over the image (partially). Then I used a pencil to trace the circle. After removing the die, I cut out the inside of the circle (making sure to not cut out the places where the image was.) Very easy!

I used a piece of the Nautical Netting that Gina will be carrying in her store on Thursday night. It goes perfectly with these images.

<------Here is the inside of the card. The sentiment reads "May your wonderful memories be a source of comfort for you today." Love that!

Note: Gina will be carrying some fantastic new digital paper packs in the store too. One of them is called Jersey Shore and goes perfectly with these images. (My printer is very sick right now so I was unable to play with them....but I will....they are wonderful!)

Gina K Preview Day # 3, a tutorial and blog candy

Contest closed. Random.Cara selected #96 as the winner. Congrats to " Sharon Harnist said...
Great new set, Cammie -- so versatile!"

Congrats Sharon!

Hello everyone! Welcome to Day 3 of the Gina K Designs Previews. The design team has been previewing all of the new sets that will be available after the release party on Splitcoaststampers from 7 to 10 p.m. Central time on THURSDAY!

Today...it is time to reveal my new set.....NURSE Feelgood! I KNOW a few of you guessed this ....but what you did NOT know is that this set is not JUST for nurses.

About a year ago, I illustrated Doctor Feelgood for Gina K Designs....and it was always my intention to do a counterpart--a nurse. However, I did not want to create an image that could only be used for nurses...so I designed a stamp set that can be a nurse...but also can EASILY be transformed into a doctor, paramedic, dentist, PA, vet, teacher, mother and any thing else you would use a female image for.

Here is my first card featuring the nurse as she was originally drawn. There are lots of sentiments in the set that can be used for many occasions. One of the sentiments is the "I {heart} my...." and you can fill in the blank with some professions included or add your own.

In honor of Nurse Appreciation Week (May 6-12, 2009) I created this:

The sentiments, nurse and ambulance are all part of the set. The images are colored with Copic markers. I repeated the sentiment behind the matted image to create a fun background.

The nurse image is fantastic to thank a nurse for nurse appreciation or for caring for a loved one; or it works well to send a fun card to a significant other (there are sentiments for that in the set too!); and it also is great to create cards to send to nursing friends and relatives.

Here is the ambulance used on its own on a card-
I paired this image with a sentiment from Doctor Feelgood. The ambulance on its own is great for an EMT or for a fun valentine or anniversary card. The sentiment reads "Love is the best medicine." So, for this card, I covered up the ambulance cross with a fun felt heart.

Removed for Publication

But, this set can be used for so much more....very easily. Because of the way I drew the image, it is simple to alter it to be used for tons of other cards. I only have a nurse hat on her head to distinguish her as a nurse. I opted to put papers in her arms so that she can be ANYTHING you need her to be. Check out how EASY it is to change her:

1. Simply ink up the stamp. (I used Memento tuxedo black ink.)

2. Then, use a damp Q-tip to rub off the ink on the hat. (Gina K's stamps are deeply etched so it is simple to take off ink on one part of an image and the stamped image is always so crisp!) Then, go over the area once more with a dry Q-tip to ensure you removed all ink.

Here is the stamp with the ink removed off her hat--- so easy!

3. Stamp image on cardstock. Whola! She is no longer a nurse. (Just add the little stethescope in the set and she becomes a doctor. Add an apple in her hands and she is a teacher. Put her in front of some animals and she is a vet. Put a tooth image behind her and she is a dentist. Put a child or flowers or a stuffed animal in her hands and she is a mother. Put a graduation cap on her head or stamped in the background and she is a graduate.....The possibilites are endless.)

You can use the same technique to change her hairstyle...or simply add more length to it.

Here are two cards I created to show you the transformation. Here she is as a teacher:

For this quick card, I wanted to show you this set paired with two others from this release: Wee Tees and the One Free with Three set called Notes to Mom. (One Free with Three set is the set you receive FREE this month when you purchase three other sets!!) It is filled with gorgeous sentiments that you will use over and over again!

Gina K Designs Preview Day #2 and more Blog Candy

Contest Closed. Random.Cara picked # 19 as the winner. Congrats to Leenda who said "Thanks for a second chance to win"

Hello!!
Welcome to Day Two of the Gina K New Release Previews! Today the design team is showing off two more sets that will be released on Thursday night at Gina K Designs.

The first set is called Friendship's Garden and is illustrated by Asela Hopkins. There are some classic flowers in this set that makes it a great set for just about any occasion.
Here is a tag I created with the set:
I stamped the flower on Pure Luxury cardstock and colored it with Copics and carefully cut it out and attached it to the tag with foam mounting tape. I tied on the little "Congrats" tag. I added the Threading water punched strip (Fiskars) along the bottom and some faux stitching around the edges. There are tiny adhesive rhinestones in the centers of the flowers. Finally, I added a hemp bow and finished the tag off with some of the new Nautical Netting that Gina will be adding to her store on Thursday night as well! (It goes great with nautical sets but, as you can see above, it also adds a fun texture to any project!)

Next, I want to share a card created with Out West, a fun western set illustrated by dt member and NEW illustrator Theresa Momber. This set is fantastic...a western MUST HAVE. Way to go Theresa!

Here is a card I created with it:
Wait till you see the rest of the images in this set! They are incredible. For this card, I paired the cowboy hat with the cactus---I thought it would be cute to have it hanging on it. Both images are stamped on Pure Luxury cardstock and colored with Copics. The sun is just a punched circle (Spellbinders circle Nestabilities) that I sponged and inked around the edges. I used a half circle shape (Spellbinders) to frame the main image. I added some hemp stitches on the side to add to the western feel of this.

I KNOW you are gonna want to check out the other previews...so head on over to these blogs to get some more peeks:

Week Long Celebration!!! Blog Candy for my great bloggin friends...

Winner!!!
"Anonymous said...
Congrats Cammie! Love that card- soo cute! I am going to guess that Dr Feelgood has a nurse (maybe somewhat naughty?) to work with him as a stamp set! Diane
"

Hello everyone! I have been so busy with my kiddos (softball, dentist appointments, activities) so my crafty time has been limited. Sigh! That is life...I am having fun! My parents are flying in today for a visit so we are all excited to see some family!!!

I did want to pop in and share a card I made the other night. It features two sets from Our Craft Lounge---Pat the Dog and Pat the Dawg House. I just love this pup--he looks so happy dreaming the day away.

I stamped the dog and cloud on Prism white cardstock. The blue layer is Prism Mystic Medium. (If you haven't tried Prism paper yet---you should...it is heavenly!) I colored the pup with Copic markers.

I framed the image using Spellbinders circle and scalloped circle dies. The top ribbon circle piece is a die from Hardware Buckles dies (Spellbinders). Instead of embossing the design on it, I left it plain to use as a ribbon attachment.

You can find all the stamps, cardstock and the Spellbinders dies at Stamper's Dream Store. Michelle has the new Spellbinders release in stock NOW!

Materials used: Stamps-Pat the Dog, Pat the Dawg House (Our Craft Lounge); cardstock--Kraft, white (prism), Mystic Medium (Prism); dp-October afternoon; graph paper; Copic markers; ribbon-Ribbon RX (Hobby Lobby); Spellbinders circle, scalloped circle and Hardware Buckle dies; Cuttlebug (Provocraft); dimensionals (Miss Elizabeth's).

So, I mentioned the Week Long Celebration in the title---There will be lots of fun stuff going on here and lots of random blog candy all week:
*I am celebrating 300,000 hits (only a few hundred to go so I think it will be this week!)
*I have a new stamp set being released with Gina K Designs on THURSDAY! (You will see some peeks of it on the design team's blogs on Wednesday!!!)
*AND...my birthday is on Friday! (a fun coincidence that it falls in the same week as the other two things and all the more reason the celebrate!)

So....today...how about some scalloped square Nestabilities (Spellbinders!) I just love these dies so I thought it would be fun to give some away!!!
Just leave a comment on this post with your guess on what my new stamp set will be. (Yes, my wonderful subscribers can post twice!) Random.Cara will select a winner on Sunday night at 8 p.m. Central time and I will post the winner on Monday. Be sure to check back. Winners will have three days to claim their prize before I select a new winner.

Keep your eyes open for more fun stuff---all week long!!!
Thanks for stopping by!

MFT Blog Hop: How much is that ice cream in the window?

...looks like she hasn't had any dessert in awhile! (sigh..just jealous!)

Welcome to the My Favorite Things Blog hop! Two wonderful new sets are being released RIGHT NOW: BC DZYNs Text Ya Later and What a Girl Wants! To help kick off the release, the MFT design team has created some fun cards and projects with the sets. If you would like to start at the beginning, just backtrack to Kim's blog and follow the links to see all the fabulous creations the team has to share.

This card features What a Girl Wants by new illustrator, Amanda Baird! It is such a cute set--the possibilities for that store front window are endless.
I thought it would be fun to show this set coupled with another MFT set (or two). The ice cream cone is from Here's the Scoop and the sentiment is from Twisted Sentiments.

I stamped the scene twice on white cardstock. I paper pieced the bags (which are also in the set) and the storefront. I also pieced the ice cream cone (and just added shading!)

I colored the lady with Copics and colored the second image and popped up parts of her for some dimension. TIP: In order to add dimension to people or animals, pop up the mid section of their body but make sure to adhere the arms directly onto the base image. This way they do not appear to have two sets of limbs!

I added liquid pearls to her necklace and earring and platinum stickles to her crown.

Here are a few other new products at MFT:

Wanna keep hoppin? Head on over to my sweet and talented friend Cindy to continue this blog hop! I know you are gonna love what she created!

SUPER boy!

Hi everyone! It has been BUSY around here. I did manage to crank out this card last night (after another Softball game that we won! woohooo!)

I used the adorable Ben Paper dolls set from My Favorite Things for this SUPER boy card.
This was the only Ben outfit I had not played with yet and my son (Ben) was anxious that I get going on it. I used some fun Making Memories paper on this with accents from the same scrap pack.

The SUPER was created with JustRite Brayton font and Harmony Rectangular Stamper set. I stamped it in red along the bottom of the vanilla cardstock and then added the "boy" stamp from the Cuddle Up Carter set (My Favorite Things).

I am just loving playing around with this set!

Materials used: Stamps-Ben Paper Dolls, Cuddle Up Carter (My Favorite Things), Brayton Font and Horizontal Stamper (JustRite); ink-Memento tuxedo black, red (Stampin' Up!); clear embossing powder, versamark and heat tool (Stampin' Up!); designer paper-Big Kids scrap kit (Making Memories); corner rounder punch (Creative Memories); paper piercing tool, mat pack (SU!); dimensionals.

Lots of fun things coming up---Blog candy, a new MFT release, a new Gina K Release, more blog candy! Stay tuned.......

Altered Stamped Image Tutorial

I am a lazy stamper. Yep, it is true.
When I stamp...I look for the easiest shortcuts and I want to get the most use from my stamps. So, I am going to share a few of the tricks and cheats I use to stamp EASY! Here is one:

The first trick is altering stamped images. You can alter many of the stamp images you have by masking off sections or rubbing off ink on certain areas of the image before stamping. But, you can also alter stamps after they have been stamped.

Over a year ago, I drew this doctor set (Dr. Feelgood) for Gina K Designs. I love using him in his original form to create fun and spunky valentines for my husband, get well cards for friends (who want to laugh!)..etc. But, there are times when I need the good doctor to PUT HIS PANTS on!

Here is the EASY way to alter the image. First stamp the image. I used Memento tuxedo black ink on Gina K's Pure Luxury layering weight cardstock.

Then, take a black thin lined pen and extend his short lines down to his ankles. Draw rounded shapes around his feet to resemble shoes.

Next, color his pants with a black Copic marker and his shoes with dark brown and a bit of black. Whola! A respectable doctor.

Here is the card I created with this image. I am tucking this into my husband's bag next week when he takes his level II anesthesia boards in New York. You could easily substitute a "GET WELL" sentiment here too. The hearts are also in the same Dr. Feelgood set. And, for a finishing touch, I added a little rain dot heart to his stethoscope!

That is it! Fast and easy....just my style!
AND....coming in two weeks to Gina K Designs......a much requested companion set to Dr. Feelgood. Shhhh!!! Bet you can't guess what it is?!
Thanks for stopping by!

Beaster Basket

(Beaster Basket--what my now twelve year old called Easter Baskets when she was little..sniff!!!)

Today is another busy day. I am working on some publication write ups and my daughter has another softball game tonight. (BTW---we lost on the weekend but the girls did GREAT!)

So I just wanted to pop in and show you this little bunny basket I created with the newest flopsey-Flopsey's Flowers from My Favorite Things:

It was super simple to create the basket part. I used a tutorial I saw somewhere (SCS maybe?) and just made the dimensions smaller. I will be sure to post a link when I locate it!

I colored the flopsey with Copic markers and cut him out. I paper pieced the flowers and added little black rhinestones to the centers before attaching him to the basket. It is perfect for presenting a gift card or a little treat for Easter!

Materials used: Stamps- Flopsey (My Favorite Things); designer paper Droopy Vines(GCD Studios); white cardstock -pure luxury (Gina K designs); Copic markers; adhesive rhinestones (Mark Richards); dimensionals (SU!); Threading water punch (Fiskars).

Thanks for all your sweet comments and emails on Mr Frog! He still makes me laugh!

Have a wonderful day!
