Lori Whitlock Spring Blog Hop

Hello! Welcome to the Lori Whitlock Spring Blog Hop.  The team has prepared lots of Spring projects for you today using Lori's amazing files.  In addition, we each have a $5 gift card to give away to Lori's store so be sure to visit all the stops along the way for more chances to win.

Blog hop order:
Carolyn

And be sure to check out the free shape available on Lori's blog today:
Here is my Spring-themed project.  I used Lori's Easter Basket for this and added the little Easter bunny (3 Easter bunny rabbits available on Silhouette online store) to create a tag for the basket:
If you look at the picture of this basket on Lori's site, you will notice that the sides are folded down.  Instead of folding them down, I left the edges up and covered the sides with patterned paper.

I made the bunny file a lot smaller and cut it out using white, pink and Kraft cardstock.  I used some twine (The Twinery) for the bunny's whiskers and added a sentiment sticker (SRM stickers) and a ruffled ribbon around the neck.

Want to win these files for FREE------?  If you would like to be entered to win the $5 gift card to Lori's store, just leave a comment on this post by Thursday at 8 p.m. Eastern time.  I will post the winner on Friday. Good luck!

Easter Basket

Ahh...another Monday! Hope it is a great one for you!
Today I wanted to share a little Easter basket with you.  I created it using an amazing Silhouette file by Lori Whitlock called Woven Basket.  Lori has done it again---when I saw this basket in her store...I IMMEDIATELY had to have it.

I just got it on Saturday and Saturday night I made this.  Yep....I love it. Lori thinks of everything.  The basket came to together in a snap.

Here are a few things I did to make it look like a realistic basket---I cut the pattern using two different card stocks---cocoa and Kraft.  By doing this, it enables you to see the weave design a bit more.  And, I wanted to see it.  I did try weaving a paper basket a few years ago and was so frustrated I tossed it when it was half done---so I am loving the ease of this.

Can you tell I love this design. (Yeah for Lori!)

Sorry....back to the details---->  After I cut it with my Silhouette, I sponged the darker card stock strips with some Distress ink to give the strips I threaded through more dimension.  I printed the top piece (which helps create the sturdiness of the basket) on patterned paper.
I used Helmar Premium Craft glue to assemble this project.

Here is the completed basket--- (I popped a little stuffed bunny in there because I was NOT about to buy another dang bag of Robin's Eggs....I have been through 2 already and it isn't even Easter yet! Sigh!)

Here is the basket sans the bunny so you can see how cute it is:

And here is a close up of the basket weave and the tag:

I added a little sticker tag (Jillibean Soup) and a spring sticker (SRM Stickers) and a touch of Caribbean baker's twine (The Twinery) and that was it!

What do you think?

Gina K Preview Day 3!

Hello! Today is day 3 of the Gina K Previews. Today the team is showing their designs created with two more new sets--Live Life Loud (by Tami Mayberry) and He is Risen (by Nina Brackett).

First up---the card I designed with He is Risen:
I absolutely love this cross. True elegance. I chose to keep the card very simple and keep the focus on it---I popped it up over the designer paper and lace and added some jewels to it.

Next, here is my card with Live Life Loud:
This set is so fun. I love all the different elements to it and I know I will be making a lot of cards with it. It is hard to tell in the photo but I diluted some red re-inker (just put a drop with some water in a mister) and sprayed it all over the background for a little hint of color.
Would you like to win one of these fun sets? All you have to do is visit each of the amazing blogs listed below and leave a comment. Gina K Preview Day 2

Hello! Welcome to Gina K Designs preview day 2! Today the design team is showing their creations with two more new sets that will be released on Thursday--Little Critters (Illustrated by Theresa Momber) and Chocolate Bunnies (Illustrated by Asela Hopkins).

Here are my creations:
For my first card I used Little Critters. I used the sweet frog image..just used the frog part of the stamp and paired it with the adorable sentiment. I colored the frog with Copic markers. The designer paper by Echo Park goes perfectly with the Pure Luxury Ocean Mist cardstock.

Next is my card using Chocolate Bunnies:
I wanted to use one of the bunnies in a non-chocolate way so I created a little Easter scene with him hopping along.
Now head on over to these fabulous blogs to see more samples with these sets and don't forget to comment for a chance to win them for free!

Cut it out!

This week's Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger is brought to you by my friend Maren.....

<--She found this lovely plate in a Pottery Barn catalogue and created a beautiful card that was inspired by it.

I was intrigued by the simplistic elegance of it and wanted to try to make something understated and elegant.

I also used a bird on my card---but I created an one layer Easter card.....

Here is my card: It is hard to see what I did on this picture, so I took a few more so you can tell that the bird image was stamped in Versamark (so dark lines would not show) and then cut out....

I think you can see that it is a cut out much better in this picture:

I used some Prima swirl pearls to accent around the image, trimming the middle section where the window is:

Finally, I embossed the sentiment in white to make it pop on the Kraft paper.

<-----I took a quick picture to show you how I did the window. I used a Spellbinders rectangle die to draw the window on the card base (for stamp placement). Then, I stamped the bird in Versamark ink (so no dark lines would show after I cut) in the center of the rectangle.
Then, I drew the box lines closer to the bird...so the wings would touch the lines of the box.
I used my Fiskars pencil grip blade to trim all around the bird (as shown on left.)

What a fun challenge!

Beaster Basket

(Beaster Basket--what my now twelve year old called Easter Baskets when she was little..sniff!!!)

Today is another busy day. I am working on some publication write ups and my daughter has another softball game tonight. (BTW---we lost on the weekend but the girls did GREAT!)

So I just wanted to pop in and show you this little bunny basket I created with the newest flopsey-Flopsey's Flowers from My Favorite Things:

It was super simple to create the basket part. I used a tutorial I saw somewhere (SCS maybe?) and just made the dimensions smaller. I will be sure to post a link when I locate it!

I colored the flopsey with Copic markers and cut him out. I paper pieced the flowers and added little black rhinestones to the centers before attaching him to the basket. It is perfect for presenting a gift card or a little treat for Easter!

Materials used: Stamps- Flopsey (My Favorite Things); designer paper Droopy Vines(GCD Studios); white cardstock -pure luxury (Gina K designs); Copic markers; adhesive rhinestones (Mark Richards); dimensionals (SU!); Threading water punch (Fiskars).

Thanks for all your sweet comments and emails on Mr Frog! He still makes me laugh!

Have a wonderful day!

Gina K Designs Preview Day 1

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Gina K Designs Blog Hop! Beginning today we are showing you the new sets that will be released on Thursday.

Today, we are showing you peeks of the new set by Rupa called Easter Blessings.
Here is my first card:
I also used the new digital paper designed by Emily Giovanni called Rich & Shabby. This will also be released on Thursday! I stamped the stained glass image in Versamark on the digital paper and embossed it in black. The image was also stamped on the Kraft cardstock.

I used a hobby knife to cut out the window right through the middle and also on the top and bottom (so that the window opens in the middle). I cut the digital paper image in half as well and adhered the two halves over the Kraft window. It looks like the window is opened and the dove is flying out.

I created the grid lines with my Scor-Pal.

Here is another project I created with this set. I made this tag with a few other images in the set--the cross, vines and sentiment.

See the black cardstock on the tag and card? Yep....more pure luxury. Gina is releasing Black Onyx this month! In addition, three new stamp sets and another "free with three" set will be released and some new digital paper collections you won't want to miss!

If you want to see more projects created with this set, hop on over to these wonderful blogs: Cindy, Donna, Emily, Erika, Jessica, Kurtis, Melanie, Theresa , and Sharri Seffens (*In the Spotlight Designer) and, of course, Gina K!

Don't forget--the Gina K Release party is on Thursday, March 12 from 7-10 p.m. Central time in the Forum on Splitcoaststampers! Join us for more peeks, challenges and games!

See you tomorrow for Day 2 Previews!

HOPPY Spring

I had to get in at least one MFTeaser before the big MFT blog hop Wednesday! So, here is a card that uses the newest Flopsey set called Tea with Flopsey. This guy is actually sitting under a tree with a tea cup in his hands in the actual set. But, because of his shape, I thought he would be perfect holding an Easter egg (the egg being the "o"!). I used Bling 'Bet for the sentiment and the Easter egg and "Easter" are from an older set called Hoppy Easter.

I love the happy colors!

Materials used: Stamps: Tea with Flopsey, Bling 'Bet, Hoppy Easter (My Favorite Things); Memento black ink; Copic markers; designer paper-Homespun collection (Memory Box); cardstock-white (Gina K Pure Luxury), pink (SU!); oval punches (SU!); sheer ribbon (Offray); Threading water punch (Fiskars); dimensionals (SU!).

My Favorite Things is having a New Release Cocktail Party on Wednesday, March 4th from 9-10 PM EASTERN. This month there are 5 new sets being released including a Who's that Girl who is hanging with her peeps!
