Love Roo!

Hello there! I have a happy little card to share today that will [hopefully] bring a smile to your face on this Wednesday morning:)

While being totally constructive and not wasting any time by surfing around on some of my favorite stamp sites...I stumbled across the newest Paper Smooches Sparks challenge.  And, yep---I was inspired by this photo to play along:
Cute, ugh?  Might have to try to make some of those!  You can find all the challenge details on the Paper Smooches Sparks blog:

Here is my take on the inspiration photo:

Here is a close-up of the kangaroo. (My son told me that I did an ok job on it :) hee!

Supplies:
Stamps- A Little Lovin, Houndstooth, Geo Graphic (Paper Smooches); cardstock- white (Gina K Designs); patterned paper- Wayfarer mini print (Bazzill Basics Paper); Dies- cloud trio, fresh cut grass (Die-namics, My Favorite Things); baker's twine-blossom (The Twinery); ink-Memento tuxedo black, orchid pastel, yellow citrus, blue lagoon (Cat's Eye Chalk ink- Colorbok); Copic markers; felt- Chartruse (Papertrey Ink); sewing machine; Zapdots (Helmar); ribbon- chevron blue (May Arts).

I was inspired by the fun colors and textures in the photo and I wanted to make a spring-ish card because of the bunnies.  I decided to use the kangaroo and sentiment from A Little Lovin (cause I love them!) and built a Spring scene using them.

I incorporated some felt to get the texture in from the inspiration picture.  I stitched along the felt grass to get some stitching in there too.

I used some of the colors  from the bunny's ears on the card by stamping background designs (Geo Graphic, Houndstooth) on the die-cut clouds.

What a fun challenge!  But, don't take my word for it --------> Click on the Paper Smooches logo to play along!

Happy Birthday!

Hello! Happy whatever-the-heck day it is! It has been a busy two weeks. My youngest was home sick from Tuesday through Friday last week and by Friday, my son joined her. I *think* we are germ free now but it was an exhausting week for sure :)

Today, I have a cute birthday card to share with you. I used Our Craft Lounge set Slow and Steady for this one: I colored this adorable fella in with Copic markers and paper pieced the balloons with some Bella Blvd paper, which i just love the colors of. (Really fun collection!) I popped the panel up with Helmar Zapdots (and I used some smaller ones to pop up the turtle too!).

I used Helmar Quick-Fix Adhesive Runner on this to adhere the patterned paper to the card base. This stuff STICKS....it is the best tape runner I have used by a wide margin. PROMISE! Great stuff!

Supply list:
Stamps- Slow and Steady (Our Craft Lounge)
Memento tuxedo black ink
Ivory cardstock (Gina K Designs)
Patterned paper- Finally Fall: You're a Hoot, Cute Cuts (Bella Blvd)
mini clothespin (Tree House Studio)
twine (May Arts)
Adhesive: Hemar Quick-Fix Adhesive Runner, Helmar Zapdots

Color Blocked Penguin

I love penguins. So I pulled out this Our Craft Lounge set to play with. Right now, I am OK with the sentiment...flash forward a few months and I might change my mind! We are excited for our first PA winter in years! Hopefully it isn't too bad :)

I used Our Craft Lounge set: Penguin Fun to create this color blocked card:

I used some Rockstar Red sparkly fluff on the penguin's hat and scarf. Love how sparkly and fluffy it is. (I guess it is named well!) I stamped the snowflakes in the set in very light sky blue on the white background.

Supplies used:
Stamps- Penguin Fun (Our Craft Lounge)
ink- Memento Tuxedo black ink; sky blue (SU!)
Copic Markers
Patterned paper by Echo Park
String (May Arts)
Sparkly Fluff- Rockstar Red (Our Craft Lounge)

Stamper's Dream JustRite Blog Hop

The newest JustRite stamps have arrived to Stamper's Dream store. To celebrate, the team organized a blog hop today to share some projects we created with the newest release.

For my project, I created a memory album using several of the new JustRite sets. It was our 9th anniversary last week and so I thought this would be a fun project to create. I intend to go back and add some pages of memories and writings to this in the future.

For the cover, I painted the chipboard album black and then added some October Afternoon designer paper. I used the sentiment from Cherish the Memories Nested Centers & Verse set . I love this sentiment for memory books and it even works great for a wedding card or baby card.
Here is a picture of the book slightly opened....

Here is a detail shot of the front page title. I layered the sentiment on a black mat and then popped it up over the delicate frame from the Baroque Nested Frames 3 Border & Center set. I added some flowers to the corners and some tiny silver dots. Then, I added another section of another frame below this for some added detail.

Here is the first pages of the book. I love how large this sentiment is...perfect for scrapbooking too! The A Perfect Day sentiment is also from Cherish the Memories Nested Centers & Verse set. The I Love You sentiment is from the All Occasion Nested Centers & Verse set. I chose to stamp it and cut it out for this page.

I used the JR Clear Horizontal stamper set (which comes with TWO clear blocks so you can see exactly where you stamp---a must have!) and the JR Brayton font to create the years sentiment. I stamped another frame as the background for this page.
Finally, I used the Happy Anniversary sentiment from the Baroque Nested Frames 3 Border & Center set for the last page.
I have so many other ideas for other memory albums I want to create. They are so much fun and don't take much time to complete.
Materials used: Stamps- Baroque Nested Frames 3 Border & Center, Cherish the Memories Nested Centers & verse, All Occasion Nested Centers & Verse (JustRite); cardstock-ivory, red hot (Gina K Designs); Clear horzontal stamper set (JustRite); Memento tuxedo black ink; markers-black, red (SU!); black acryllic paint; Chipboard album (Mary Engelbreit, Micheal's); Designer paper- Thrift Shop 8 by 8 pad (October Afternoon); silver adhesive dots (Michael's); felt embellishments (Prima); flower (Prima); slit punch (SU!); Tea dye distress ink (Ranger); sponge; cuttlebug number die (Provocraft); ribbon (May Arts).

Here are the links to the rest of the Stamper's Dream team who are posting today:

Enjoy--I know there is gonna be a LOT of eye candy! I cannot wait to see what these talented ladies have created as well!

CSS Sketch Hop

Welcome to our first Center Stage Spotlight Design Team Blog Hop!

Jessica Fick, the Design Team Coordinator for GinaK Designs, has issued a challenge to all of the past and present team CSS team members to make a Christmas card with one of these sketches:

Here is what I came up with:

For my first card, I used an older Gina K set--Warm and Cozy Christmas. I simply stamped the image and cut out the boy (there is a tree behind him in the stamp). I used the "joy" sentiment in Warm Winter Wishes to stamp right next to him in the circle.

I added some red crystals in some of the snowflakes and added some icicle stitckles below his feet so this card sparkles a lot.

Materials used: Stamps-Warm and Cozy Christmas, Warm Winter Wishes (sentiment) (Gina K Designs); Memento black ink; cardstock-Ivory , white pure luxury (Gina K Designs); Copic markers; icicle stickles (Ranger); designer paper-Mini deck-Jolly by Golly (Cosmo Cricket); crystal rhinestones; pom pom ribbon (JoAnns); Spellbinders scalloped circle die; Cuttlebug (Provocraft); ribbon-May Arts; corner rounder punch (Creative Memories).

For this card I used two newer sets--Holiday Hospitality and Vintage Borders (sentiment). I used some of the beautiful new cardstock--tan leather and silver lining!

This was an easy card to make and I love how quick (and beautiful) cards are that are made with this ornament stamp. I finished this off with a big bow, made with my Bow Easy!

Materials used: Holiday Hospitality, Vintage Borders (Gina K Designs); Memento black ink; cardstock-tan leather, silver lining (Gina K Designs); silver cording- (Gina K Designs); Designer paper- Everafter: Something Blue (Cosmo Cricket); ribbon - May Arts; adhesive silver dots (Mark Richards); Scor-Pal; Bow Easy.

Lord of the Season Blog Hop

Hi There! The kids and I are loving having some company. What a great diversion for them to have their grandparents here....and adult company is always nice for me!

Tonight, the Gina K Design team is hosting a blog hop featuring the gorgeous new set by Nina called Lord of the Season. I chose to use more funky colors for this card--to illustrate that the images do not have to be used for formal cards only!
I used some of my favorite designer paper from the White Out collection (We R Memory Keepers) to paper piece the tree. I added some fun red dots for ornaments. I inked the edges of the sentiment piece to go with the pop of blue throughout the card.

Materials used: Stamps-Lord of the Season (Gina K Designs); Memento tuxedo black ink, turquoise ink (SU!); sponge; cardstock-pure luxury white (Gina K Designs); Designer paper-White Out Collection (We R Memory Keepers); lattice border punch (Martha Stewart); Corner rounder punch (Creative Memories); Spellbinders scalloped rectangle die; Cuttlebug (Provocraft); ribbon (May Arts); star punch (SU!); red adhesive dots.

Hip to Be Square Hop

Hello! Welcome to the Gina K Designs "Hip to be Square" hop where members of the design team and some guests of Melanie are showing off some fun creations they designed with the set.

I have to admit---I LOVE this set. I really love the cool grid background (that so resembles a window!) It makes designing a card EASY. I have so many cards I want to make with it but today I am showing you the most recent two I have designed with it.
The first card combines Hip to be Square with two of Melanie's previous releases: Jumping for Joy and Inspiration Mosaic: (I apologize for the bad photo...we have been having a rainy month and I cannot get enough natural light to photograph my cards :( )

This was the first card idea I had with this set---I love how all these stamps from different sets go together so well. That sentiment is perfect. I created the moon by punching a circle shape and then just cutting away a part of it. I sponged the edges of the moon and then after I assembled the card, I colored with moon with a quickie glue pen and sprinkled Doodlebug yellow glitter on it. I punched a few white stars to add to the night sky.

The background cardstock is called sweet corn.

Materials used: Stamps-Hip to be Square, Inspiration Mosaic, Jumping for Joy (Gina K Designs); cardstock-white, corn (Pure luxury-Gina K Designs); copic markers; ink-Memento black, bashful blue -SU!; ribbon (May Arts); star punch (provocraft); circle punch (SU!); doodlebug glitter; quickie glue pen.

The second card I made is a fun Halloween scene. I paired Hip to be Square with Happy Haunting to create this card:

I brayered the mustard ink over some pure luxury white cardstock. I stamped the grid design over it and then I stamped the haunted house over it and then again on some yellow designer paper. I cut out the moon from the yellow piece and added it over the moon on the card. I added the grid line over the moon back in with a black pen.

The sentiment from Hip to be Square fits perfectly with this spooky scene. I mounted the scene on some heavy weight pure luxury white cardstock.

Materials used: Stamps-Hip to be Square, Happy Haunting (Gina K Designs); ink-Memento black, mustard (SU!); brayer; cardstock-white (Pure luxury-Gina K Designs); oval punch (SU!); designer paper-Halloween pack (Recollections); ribbon-Harvest-Celebrate It (Michaels Stores Inc.)

Fruitful Harvest Blog Hop

Hello! Tonight, Asela is hosting a blog hop with her newest set from Gina K Designs, Fruitful Harvest.

Although I don't make a lot of elegant, lacy, distres-y, vintage-y type cards...sometimes I just feel the need to try. I love the beautiful grapes in this set and wanted to give my card the same feeling I felt when I first saw them:
I added some lace along the side and some rhinestones under the "friend" part of the sentiment. The background is stamped with French Script backgrounder (SU!) and I used tea dye distress ink all along the edges (with a sponge).

The grapes are stamped twice....once on the background paper and once on white pure luxury cardstock. I colored them both in with Copics and the cut out the grapes on the white cardstock, adhering the section on the left right on top of the stamped one and adding some dimension to the rest of the bunch with some mounting tape.

Heeheee....the background purple paper is from a Halloween paper pack that was sitting on my desk!!!

Materials used: Stamps-Fruitful Harvest (Gina K Designs), French Script (SU!); Memento tuxedo black ink; Ranger tea dye and vintage photo distress ink; sponge; Copic markers; designer paper- Halloween pack (Recollections); cardstock-white (Gina K Designs, pure luxury), cocoa (SU!); lace; ribbon (May Arts); adhesive rhinestones-Autumn (Recollections); Spellbinders tag ties; Cuttlebug (Provocraft); hemp (Hobby Lobby); paper piercing tool.

For even more inspiration with the Fruitful Harvest, head over to Asela Hopkin's blog, the illustrator of this beautiful stamp set. She has also asked her friend Deb Felts to share a card with us tonight too!

Do You Believe in Magic???

...you might after you see this new set by Alicia for Gina K Designs-- Feel the Magic!
When I first saw these images I was immediately drawn to the adorable witch...she is so cute and I knew I wanted to make a little treat bag featuring her.

I cropped the original image of the witch (she is sitting on a mushroom in the actual stamp) and I had her sitting on a cauldron (that I just cut from designer paper) instead. Since I wanted to use these little eyeball chocolate crisp candies inside---I thought having her sit on a cauldron working up a spell would work well. (Who knows what she is planning on turning a bunch of eyeballs into anyway??!!) The set comes with a cute little star wand so I took that idea and just made it larger (so it wouldn't get lost in the busy design) and used a punched star covered in glitter for her wand.

I used my treat tote tutorial to make this pouch. I just made this a bit wider to accommodate the large window. I put the eyeballs into a clear envelope before securing them inside and then I re-used the mesh bag the candies originally came into to add to the inside of the window. (I cut the mesh bag open and then adhered it to the backside of the front opening.)

Materials used: Stamps-Feel the Magic (Gina K Designs); cardstock-white Pure Luxury (Gina K Designs); Copic markers; stickles-purple and gold (Ranger); designer paper--Stampin' Up, Halloween paper pack (Recollections); circle punches (Stampin' UP); star punch (SU!); slit punch (SU!); scalloped circle punch (SU!); Spellbinders Nestabilities dies; crystal stickers (Mark Richards); hemp; orange ribbon (May Arts); (candy).

Boy, my kids are gonna be so happy to see this posted---- they have been patiently waiting to eat those eyeballs!!!

Wanna see some more MAGIC??? Joining us tonight with special projects made with Alicia K's Feel the Magic Stamp set are these amazing designers:

Gina, Asela, Donna, Emily, Jessica, Melanie, Theresa and Erika.

Dog Days of Summer

Hello there! I am so confused on the days lately---all I know is that my two oldest go back to school on Monday and we are getting all ready for that.

I created this card for the Dirty Dozen Alumni challenge on Splitcoaststampers.
Valerie came up with this month's theme -- the Dog Days of Summer.
Required Element: Dog images or sentiments and heat of summer color scheme (so think orange, red, mustard, etc.)
Restricted Element: Flock, or any fuzzy type embellishment
You can view all the cards for this challenge HERE.

Here is my card: I used Pat the Dog from Our Craft Lounge for my dog. I made sure to have a big ole sun ('cause it is HOT in Texas during the Dog Days of Summer.)

The base of this card (yellow polkadots) is from a dollar pack of notecards from Michael's. I accented it with some other designer paper with some "summery" colors.

What a fun challenge ----->I am now ready to say goodbye to the Dog Days of Summer. Bring on the Fall!

Materials used: Stamps-Pat the Dog (Our Craft Lounge); Memento black ink; Copic markers; notecard (Michael's); designer paper-Black Orchid (SEI); Big Kids (Making Memories); ribbon-pumpkin pie stripe (SU!), yellow (May Arts); sun sticker (Creative Memories); slit punch (SU!).

JustRite THANKS

Hello everyone! Thanks again for the prayers----So far....so good! Lauren quickly recovered from her bout with the stomach bug and now Cara and I are just staring at each other to see who will succumb next. Oh...and there is lots of cleaning going on round here! lol!

Despite all that fun.....I did manage to eek out a card yesterday. (I have been itching to get into a great BIG pile of new stamps but the bellies in my family have not been cooperating!)

This card features a new release from JustRite called Autumn Blessings Borders & Centers Oval . You can find this new JustRite release and many others at Stamper's Dream. Look for the new Christmas releases SOON! This apple stamp is formatted to be oval....so I just stamped the apples and cut them out to use them on the circle. The "Thanks" is from another stamp in the set...I just love the sentiments and fonts in this set.

The paper on this card is from Cosmo Cricket Everafter line. You can find the new Cosmo Cricket releases at Stamper's Dream store too!

Materials used: Stamps: Autumn (JustRite Stampers); designer paper-Everafter (Cosmo Cricket); white cardstock (Gina K Designs); button (Papertrey Ink); sewing machine; choc chip marker (SU!); Copic markers; memento tuxedo black ink; corner punch (Fiskars); ribbon (May Arts); Spellbinders circle and scalloped circle Nestabilities; Wizard (Spellbinders); Creative memories cutting template; hemp (Hobby Lobby); foam mounting tape.

Have Faith Hedgie

I love Penny Black stamps---this one is called Asking the Flowers. This fella is just too cute.
I paired this stamp with JustRite Tiny Words & Centers sentiment. Instead of creating a standard card...I decided that it would be cute to create a mini card mounted on a base. So the hedgie part flips up so you can read the inside message.

<---Here is the card opened. For this card, I also used some Prismatics paper- Blush Red Light
and Island Mist Medium
and some fun May Arts ribbon.
The designer paper is from Kaiser Craft called Everblooming.

You can find all the supplies for this card at Stamper's Dream!

And some other fun news---Stamper's Dream now carries Tombow markers. Woohoo! I LOVE trying all types of coloring mediums, so I had to get a few to try them out! I will be posting with them soon!!!!

Picture of Love

Last night I had some time to play around with this adorable Picnic Time Sarah Kay (Stampavie)image. I just love these highly detailed stamps---so much fun to color! I colored this image with Copic markers and cut it out and then framed it using the Spellbinders Labels four set. (BTW--I have been getting LOTS of questions about Copic markers recently ? and just wanted to let you know that I have responded individually if you provided your email address---however, if you post anonymously, I have no way to get back to you to answer a question. I do plan to do another Copic coloring tutorial in another week or two...stay tuned! Hopefully I will be able to address a lot of the questions then!)

The designer paper on this card is by Making Memories. I sponged a bit of Tea Dye Ink (Ranger) on the edges to age it a bit. For the sentiment, I inked only part of a stamp from the Tiny Words & Centers set (JustRite). I framed the sentiment with a Chatterbox Brad -Easy Bradmaker Kit (LOVE this kit!). The final touch is a piece of olive ric rac under the main image.

Check out Stamper's Dream for most of the supplies used to make this card!

Materials used: Stamps-Picnic Time (Sarah Kay for Stampavie), Tiny Words & Centers set (JustRite Stampers); Memento black ink; Ranger Distress Tea Dye Ink; sponge; SU black marker; white cardstock (PRISM); Designer paper--Just Chillin' Girl 6 x 6 paper pack (Making Memories); Copic Markers; Spellbinders Labels Four Nestabilities; Cuttlebug (Provocraft); olive ric rac (May Arts); Easy BradMaker Kit (Chatterbox).

My baby sister is flying in tomorrow with my niece (1) for a week----we are all soo excited! Hope you have a great weekend!!!

Stamper's Dream Challenge

Hello! Welcome to the Stamper's Dream monthly challenge. This month Tosh chose these colors for us to use on our cards: Blush Red Dark, Island Mist Medium, Birchtone Light. You can accent with either Suede Brown Dark or Ivory.

(Compatible SU colors are: Baha Breeze, Riding Hood and Sahara Sand. )

We also had to use some texture and bling to the cards!

Here is what I came up with for this challenging challenge:

I used the fun Inkadinkado clear stamp set called Gemstone Flowers for the main image. I stamped the flower three times and then popped up one and colored the inside of the flower image.
I lined the inside of each flower center with some multicolored mini rhinestones (Zva Creations). For the center flower, I also added an adhesive metal dot (Michael's).

I used Prismatics Blush Red Dark, Island Mist Medium, Ivory and Suede Brown Dark on this card. Although it is hard to see in the picture, the background Ivory panel is debossed with Impressabilities Flowers (Spellbinders).

<----Here is a view of the card lying down so you can see the dimension. I used a little bit of brown satin May Arts ribbon to add under the main panel (folded under) and under the sentiment. I used part of the Just Rite stamp from the Birthday Wishes set. I only inked the "Enjoy" part of the stamp, stamped it and then punched it out. The dot in the sentiment is also dotted with a crystal.

You can most of the products used to make this card at Stamper's Dream Store!

Materials used: Stamps- Gem Stone Flowers (Inkadinkado), Birthday Wishes (JustRite); ink-riding hood red (SU!); multicolored rhinestone (Zva Creations); glue pen; cardstock-Blush Red Dark, Island Mist Medium, Ivory, Suede Brown dark (Prism); oval punch (SU!); circle punch and scalloped circle punch (SU!); corner rounder punch (Creative Memories); ribbon (May Arts); Flower Impressabilities (Spellbinders); Cuttlebug (Provocraft).

Check out the other members of the Dream Team for more cards created for this challenge: Michelle, Tosh, Laurie, Kimberly, Denise and Charmaine.
