ATC and wish me luck!

Just wanted to share an ATC (Artist Trading Card) I created using the new Gina K Designs Stamp TV kit (Eclectic Summer) ribbons and paper and the One Free with Three--Lazy Days of Summer set.I paper pieced the sail to keep the feel patriotic. The sentiment is embossed in white on the blue.

I love creating ATCs and always forget about them---they are the perfect project when you don't have much time!!!

Speaking of not having much time--I am working hard trying to get ready for TWO birthday parties tomorrow. My oldest (known in blogland as Random.Cara) turns 13 and my youngest, Lauren, turns 4 this week and we are having her party tomorrow as well.

Princesses during the day----teenager sleepover/movie at night.....wish me luck!
(If you don't hear from me for awhile...you know I didn't make it out alive!)

Happy Birthday JOY!

When Cambria emailed me asking if I would like to be in on a birthday surprise for Joy, I jumped at the chance to create a card for someone so sweet.

This is my card for Joy. It features a new Our Craft Lounge set made exclusive for eP and is available TODAY---click HERE! It's an adorable sea turtle named Kona. In honor of Joy's birthday, I thought I would omit the surf board (just this once!) and add a heart in his arms. I created the JOY sentiment using JustRite Brayton Font and Harmony Rectangular stamper.

Materials used: Kona (Our Craft Lounge exclusive for Eclectic Paperie), JustRite Brayton Font and Harmony Rectangular stamper; Memento tuxedo black ink; Copic markers; Cardstock-white Pure Luxury, Rocket Red (Gina K Designs); brads (Gina K Designs-Eclectic Summer Kit); label punch (SU!); ribbon (SU!); paper piercing tool and mat pack (SU!); red marker (SU!); foam mounting tape.

Happy birthday Joy! Hope your day is filled with love.

Gina K Preview Day 4 - Edible Firecracker Tutorial

Hello! Welcome to the Gina K Designs Preview Day 4!!! TONIGHT (Thursday) is the night that all the newest stamp sets, StampTV kit, new cardstock, new digital paper and Vivid ink pads (Inky Blue, Brick Red and Coffee Bean--which match the Pure Luxury cardstock exactly!) are added to the store! Hope to see you at the release party from 7-10 p.m. CENTRAL time on Splitcoaststampers!

Today the design team is using two new stamp sets--Ribbon Stripes and Lazy Days of Summer. Ribbon Stripes is a cool set of horizontal patterns that can be stamped on ribbon or paper. Lazy Days of Summer is the one free with three set (you get this set FREE when you purchase three others this month). It is filled with adorable stamps that make me think of all those awesome summer days at the beach.

For my sample I chose to use the star pattern stripe from the Ribbon Stripes set and the stars and sentiments from Lazy Days of Summer. I LOVE these stars and although I created a Forth of July party invite and candy display...you can also alter the colors and create a fun "You're a Star" birthday ensemble fit for your princess or little athlete.
Here is a picture of just the invite. The inside piece slides out when you pull the star up. The ribbon that I used throughout the project is all from the StampTV kit-Eclectic Summer. I already used it on a project or two before this and still have some left! I used the Ribbon Stripe to add a design to the fold over on the pocket and I also used a bit of one stripe to add some detail under the sentiment.

Here is the candy display. This is just a painted terracotta pot. I lined the inside with some of flower foam. I stuck in some red and blue tootsie pops. I decorated a little bag full of red and white m&ms and added the sentiment tag. I added ribbon to the edge and some stars along the rim. The red brads are also from the new StampTV kit! Finally, I created some "edible" firecrackers. I created a small tutorial below to show you how easy it is to make one.

Edible Firecracker Tutorial:
Supplies-
Lazy Days of Summer stamp set
Ribbon Stripes stamp set
Avery file folder labels (these are the thin labels)
blue ink (I used Brilliant Blue (SU!)
red ink (I used Ranger's Fired Brick Distress ink)
long tootsie rolls
white cardstock (Pure Luxury-Gina K Designs)
silver star- optional (Colorbok)
foam mounting tape

First ink half of the ribbon stripe stamp (stars) with blue ink and stamp across label. This stamp is LONG---therefore, to speed up the process, I simply stamped red on one side and blue on the other side because I knew I didn't need all the length of the design! (Yep----I am all about the shortcuts!)
Tip: Because these labels are thinner than the regular ones, stamp every other label with the design and you won't have to worry if you overstamp the edge onto the next one.

For each firecracker you will need two blue strips and two red strips:

After stamping the strips you need. Cut along the edges of the labels. You will not need a large length to wrap around so just cut to the point where you like how the stamping turned out on all strips! See below:

Now you are ready to wrap the tootsie roll. Alternate strips starting at the top of the tootsie roll and wrap around as shown:

After the tootsie roll is covered, you are ready to create the topper. Stamp the large star in blue or red ink and then stamp the smallest star in the opposite color. Cut the stars out and adhere to small one on the large one with a piece of foam tape. (Optional) Add the small silver star to the center.

Attach the star to the tootsie roll as shown. Whola! An edible firecracker! (You can alter this technique for a lot of themes---ie. a small princess wand, or an all star trophy!)

Gotta love fireworks that are pretty AND edible!

Gina K Preview Day 3

Hello! Welcome to Gina K Designs Preview Day 3! Today the design team is showing projects/cards created with the new StampTV kit called Eclectic Summer! The kit includes: two stamp sets-Eclectic Summer Stamp set and Eclectic Summer Sayings Stamp set; 15 sheets of assorted Pure Luxury cardstock; 12 sheets of assorted Lime Rickey patterned paper; summer brad mix; and summer ribbon mix (lots of ribbon!).

I was actually not going to peek this fun fish today but I had to! Look at him looking at me---just begging me to use him. So I paired this fun-tastic image with one of the sentiments in the kit to create a fun whimsical anniversary card/ love card/ valentine! The fun ribbon at the top of the sentiment is just ONE of the fun ribbons that come with the kit. (If you come back tomorrow you will see HOW far this one ribbon went...and it is just one of the many included in the kit!)

I cut out a portion of the swirl cardstock to create fun waves that overlap the card borders.

There is just something about this fish.....

Materials used: Stamps-Eclectic Summer (Gina K Designs); Memento black ink; Copic markers; White cardstock (Gina K Designs); Swirl die cut-Perm Teal-pop culture (K I memories); blue cardstock (PRISM); ribbon (Gina K Designs, Eclectic Summer Stamp TV kit); tag punch (SU!); black and red markers (SU!); paper piercing tool and mat pack (SU!); oval punch (SU!); eyelet (SU!); Cropadile (We R Memory Keepers); dimensionals.

Gina K Preview Day 1

Happy Memorial Day!!! Today is such a wonderful day in America to honor those who serve or who have served our country. I am so thankful for all those (especially my husband) who are willing to serve to protect all those values we hold dear. I just want to take a minute and mention that Cards for Heroes is collecting cards for the service members so that they have cards to send home to their families when they cannot be with them. I created a card for the CCEE challenge today to send to them and I just wanted to pass along the info in case you were looking for an excellent way to support the troops with your hobby!

**********
Welcome to Gina K Designs Preview Day 1! Get ready for a week full of fantabulous previews of all the new sets that will be released at Gina K Designs on Thursday night! Today, the design team is working with the newest set from Melanie Muenchinger called Sporty Accessories--it is SUCH a great set that can be paired with her Just So Sporty set or used all on its own....

Here is my first card:

The banner and words, bat, glove and ball are all from the new set. I stamped them all on Gina K Pure Luxury cardstock, colored them with Copics and cut them out. I paired these images with the jersey from Just So Sporty to make a great birthday card for a baseball lover. (You can personalize it further by adding his jersey number too!) I framed the images by creating a score line with my Scor-Pal and then stamping the baseball border in grey.

This card also features some of the new digital paper that will be released on Thursday too. The red striped piece is from the Red Stars and Stripes and the Canvas background is from Summer Fabrics.
I love them all together!

Materials used: Stamps-Just So Sporty, Sporty Accessories (Gina K Designs); Memento black ink; Copic markers; grey ink (SU!); digital paper-Stars and Stripes, Summer Fabrics-digital downloads (Gina K Designs); Pure Luxury white cardstock (Gina K Designs); black brads (Making Memories); dimensional foam tape.

And here is another card I created with this set:

Heeeheee! I couldn't resist....sorry! These adorable converse sneakers are part of this set as well and I wanted to demonstrate that this set is NOT just for sport themes. Many of the images can be used for other fun card themes....

"U Stink"
"We Fit Like a Glove"
"Love You" with the bull horn
"Cheer Up" with pom poms and uniform...etc.

I found the leftover iron-on letter on my counter and thought it would go perfectly. I added on the "stink" part with JustRite Brayton Font.

Materials used: Stamps- Sporty Accessories (Gina K Designs); JustRite Brayton font; Memento black ink; cardstock-Pure Luxury (Gina K Designs); ribbon; stapler; designer paper- Frenzy-Whirl-White Out collection (We R Memory Keepers) ; notebook punch (SU!); slit punch (SU!); black marker (Copic).

Hey There, Cowboy!

Just playing around with this amazingly illustrated set Out West by Theresa Momber for Gina K Designs today. Since Memorial Day is approaching, I wanted use the saddle with some patriotic colors:

The saddle is stamped and colored and cut out. I sponged the side of the Spellbinders die cut shape and added the sentiment as a little tab off the top.

What a fun set!

Have a great weekend. I am on my way out to lunch with my hubby and youngest daughter so I will edit this post with a supplies list when I return!
Materials used: Stamps-Out West (Gina K Designs); Memento tuxedo black ink; designer paper-Denim-Bandana Edge (Wright Designs) ; White Pure Luxury Cardstock (Gina K Designs); Copic markers; star punch (SU!); Spellbinders Nestabilities-labels ; ribbon (The Paper Studio); hemp (SU!); metal adhesive dots (Colorbok).

Stamper's Dream Challenge

Hello! Welcome to the Stamper's Dream monthly challenge. This month Tosh chose these colors for us to use on our cards: Blush Red Dark, Island Mist Medium, Birchtone Light. You can accent with either Suede Brown Dark or Ivory.

(Compatible SU colors are: Baha Breeze, Riding Hood and Sahara Sand. )

We also had to use some texture and bling to the cards!

Here is what I came up with for this challenging challenge:

I used the fun Inkadinkado clear stamp set called Gemstone Flowers for the main image. I stamped the flower three times and then popped up one and colored the inside of the flower image.
I lined the inside of each flower center with some multicolored mini rhinestones (Zva Creations). For the center flower, I also added an adhesive metal dot (Michael's).

I used Prismatics Blush Red Dark, Island Mist Medium, Ivory and Suede Brown Dark on this card. Although it is hard to see in the picture, the background Ivory panel is debossed with Impressabilities Flowers (Spellbinders).

<----Here is a view of the card lying down so you can see the dimension. I used a little bit of brown satin May Arts ribbon to add under the main panel (folded under) and under the sentiment. I used part of the Just Rite stamp from the Birthday Wishes set. I only inked the "Enjoy" part of the stamp, stamped it and then punched it out. The dot in the sentiment is also dotted with a crystal.

You can most of the products used to make this card at Stamper's Dream Store!

Materials used: Stamps- Gem Stone Flowers (Inkadinkado), Birthday Wishes (JustRite); ink-riding hood red (SU!); multicolored rhinestone (Zva Creations); glue pen; cardstock-Blush Red Dark, Island Mist Medium, Ivory, Suede Brown dark (Prism); oval punch (SU!); circle punch and scalloped circle punch (SU!); corner rounder punch (Creative Memories); ribbon (May Arts); Flower Impressabilities (Spellbinders); Cuttlebug (Provocraft).

Check out the other members of the Dream Team for more cards created for this challenge: Michelle, Tosh, Laurie, Kimberly, Denise and Charmaine.
Wanna play along? There is a Dreamy Treat on Michelle's blog that you can enter to win. Check it out HERE.

Be sure to link your card to Michelle's card and use the keywords "SDDC7" if you upload to Splitcoaststampers.

MFT Blog Hop: We'll Change the Way you Gift

First, thank you for all the wonderful notes and messages. I am doing great...had an infection in my jaw but it is being treated with antibiotics and the pain is GONE. Hooray!!! I had a great trip with my sisters and am happy to be back home with my kiddos and hubby.

Welcome to the My Favorite Things Blog hop! Two wonderful new label sets are being released as well as these fabulous jars to help make gift giving....SIMPLE! To help kick off the release, the MFT design team has created some fun projects with the jars. If you would like to start at the beginning, just backtrack to Kim's blog and follow the links to see all the fabulous creations the team has to share.

For my jar...I wanted to create a different type of gift. Although I didn't use one of the new label sets (I DID use it in the dirty dozen gallery this month), I did use another MFT set, Congrats All Around, to help create this easy project.

I turned my jar into a piggy bank...a fun way of giving the gift of money for a baby shower, a new baby or a graduate!

Mine is created for a baby....a fun way to help "save" for the future.

Here is a picture of the card and the bank together:

Approximate cost of this gift: Priceless! Ok..fine. $4 (plus the money you put in the bank!)

IN addition to the two new label stamp sets, the following new products will be added to My Favorite Things on Wednesday night (May 20th) at midnight:
*Stephanie Fizer Papers - School Collection digi paper pack
*Jars sized to fit label stamp sets (will be sold in packs of four)
*Eclipse Masking Sheet packs
*Adornments Shimmer brads (8-10 each pink, 8-10 cream, and 16-20 white)

Getting by with a little help from my friends.....

After another trip to the dentist yesterday, it was determined that part of my tooth is dying (is is losing its blood supply thus causing the intense pain) and needed an immediate root canal. So..................today is the day!! Ordinarily this would sadden me....but after the week I have had---I am overjoyed to know that the pain is almost outta here.

Until then, I am getting by with a little help from my friends:

(ETA: Me + Oxycodone= NOT Friends. Those suckers made me vomit. Nice, eh?)

I am having a hard time of this so I have given myself permission to take a few days off. I am still scheduled to head out of state on my sisters weekend get away this weekend so I am getting a few things done before I leave the family to fend for themselves.

There is so much I am behind on: dt assignments, thank you notes, comments on blogs, challenges I have missed.....but I am allowing myself to slack---just this once!

Thanks for understanding. Hoping to be back better than ever next week!

Flowering Friendship

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday...

Nope. Tooth issue still unresolved. Going again today....sigh!

On to something fun---Here is a peek at a new set from Flourishes, called Nasturtiums...

Stamper's Dream store will be carrying this set and the other new Flourishes releases at 10 p.m. CST Friday night!!! I stamped the flowers in versamark and embossed them in gold on watercolor paper. I did this twice so I could pop some of the leaves and flowers up on foam tape. I water colored the flowers with SU! reinkers and a paint brush. I cut out the flowers in an oval shape by tracing the inside of an oval Spellbinders die and then cutting it out so I could leave some detail outside the edges. Then I framed the flowers with a gold scalloped oval (Spellbinders). Check out Michelle's store for a great selection of the new Spellbinders dies!

I used my Scor-Pal to create a nice embossed grid on the background white layer.

I framed them in gold and added the little sentiment in the set on a tag to attach it to the main panel. I added a touch of gold to the edges of the tag with a Zigpainty pen. The cording and ribbon are both from May Arts. You can find tons of awesome May Arts ribbon HERE!

Materials used: Stamps-Nasturtiums (Flourishes); watercolor paper; Versamark; gold embossing powder (SU!); heat tool; Memento tuxedo black ink; SU reinkers; paintbrush; gold cardstock (SU!); gold cord (May Arts); ribbon (May Arts); Gold Zigpainty pen; Fiskars Lace corner punch; gold eyelet; gold brad (SU!); tag punch (SU!); Spellbinders oval and circle Nestabilities; Cuttlebug (Provocraft); foam mounting tape.

Keeping it short until I feel better. Thanks for all of your prayers. I am going away this weekend on a trip to the beach with all of my sisters so I hope that I get some relief soon so I can actually enjoy the trip.

Have a great day!

Thanks for stopping by!

I'm a subscriber, so this is my second chance post! Thanks again for the chance to win!-Lindsay"

Lindsay, Please email me your address and I will get your set in the mail!

Thanks to everyone for playing along!

Elegant Thanks

Thank you for all your tooth sympathy stories! I did end up calling my dentist and I am going in to see him today...wohooo!!! Hopefully he will figure out what is wrong as I am pretty sure that something IS! (I am updating this at 1:00 am as I am awake with a toothache..sigh! Just waiting for pain meds to kick in.)

I LOVE elegant cards. And I really LOVE elegant cards that come together so easily.

I recently received the Anna Griffin Elegant Borders clear stamp set from Anita's Arts. There are TONS of elegant borders (clear stamps) in the set AND a chocolate pigment ink pad and a clear stamp mount in this KIT. (You can also purchase all the stamps without the ink pad and stamp mount.) I stamped that beautiful flourish design on the top and bottom of some Ivory Pure Luxury cardstock. They stamped very nicely and I am excited about HOW EASY it was to create my own designer paper. And there are tons of different borders and designs to choose from. You can find this set and lots of other Anna Griffin products at Anita's Arts!

I paired the Anna Griffin border with a Thanks stamp from Inkadinkado. The cardstock is Chocolate Kiss Pure Luxury from Gina K Designs and the small flower is a sateen flower that is colored with a Copic marker.

Materials used: Stamps-Anna Griffin Elegant borders; Thanks (Inkadinkado); Ink-chocolate (Anna Griffin); cardstock-Ivory, chocolate kiss (Gina K Pure Luxury); gold (Stampin' Up!); Spellbinders Oval/scalloped oval Nestabilities; Cuttlebug (Provocraft); Copic markers; hemp (SU!); corner rounder punch (Creative Memories); Prima flower; sateen flower (Gina K Designs); foam mounting tape; wedding jewels.

Congratulations Graduate..Win a Nurse!

First of all, for any mother who may be reading this---HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

RE: MFT blog candy. That contest is closed now. Random.Cara is away this weekend with her dad....so she will pick the winner of the MFT set as soon as she gets back tonight. Sorry for the delay!

Well, I mentioned that you can turn Nurse Feelgood (Gina K Designs) into anything because of the way she is drawn.
Here is another example of her versatility.....now she is a graduate:

To turn the image into a graduate, I simply wiped off the ink from the nurse cap and stamped the image. I drew in a graduation cap. To create the gown, I extended her sleeves to cover her arms and extended her skirt. After sketching these details right over the image, I colored it in. The black ink covered the original stamped lines.

Whola! Nurse Feelgood is a graduate. Boy, this girl gets around!

Wanna win a Nurse Feelgood set? Simply leave a comment on this post by Tuesday night at 8 p.m. CENTRAL TIME and tell me what you want to create with her. Random.Cara will select a winner. (Subscribers can enter twice!)

DID YOU SEE IT? Gina K just released the first issue of Stamping Lifestyle Magazine on Stamp TV. You can download it HERE for FREE. (Check inside for a coupon!)

Have a WONDERFUL Day!!!

JustRite Week Continues...

Earlier this week I mentioned that the Stamper's Dream team was showcasing JustRite products all week---the newest JustRite stamps are at Stamper's Dream store NOW! That is right---get them at Stamper's Dream first!!!

Today, It is my pleasure to show you two more projects created with the newest release. The first project is a simple cookie sleeve created with Homemade Treats Borders & Centers set. (I learned this design years ago from a Stampin' Up! workshop and it is one I come back to often. You can see how to create the sleeve HERE. ) For this one, I started out with an 8" by 8" piece of designer paper. I used JustRite Homemade Treats Borders & Centers set to create the fun label. After wrapping up a cookie, I added a cut heart from the designer paper (Cosmo Cricket-Chemistry) as a finishing touch. Easy to make AND mass produce!

Materials used: Stamps- Homemade Treats Borders & Centers (Justrite Stampers); ink-ruby red, chocolate chip markers (SU!); ribbon (May Arts); Designer paper - Chemistry (Cosmo Cricket); foam mounting tape.

Next, I wanted to show you a card I created with the new Tiny Words & Centers set. (To use this set, just select the center and the border you wish to use and pop them into the Wooden Stamper and stamp away!)

I don't know about you---but I am ALWAYS searching for good sentiments and I happen to LOVE little circular ones. This set has the CUTEST sentiments---I KNOW I will be using them over and over. I just love this one:
I paired this sentiment with the pup from Our Craft Lounge set--Pat the Dog.
A perfect fit! The image is stamped on Simply Smooth Prism white cardstock and colored with Copic markers. The background blue is also from Prism--Island Mist light.

Materials used: Stamps- Tiny Words & Centers (JustRite), Pat the Dog (Our Craft Lounge); Memento tuxedo black ink; Copic markers; markers-black and red (SU!); Cardstock--white (Prism), Island Mist-light (Prism); designer paper- 3 Bugs in a Rug, The Paper Studio (grid); hardware (SU!); ribbon (SU!).

Want to see some more JustRite Goodness???? Head on over to these SD designer blogs to see the awesome projects they have to share: Cindy , Michelle, Tosha , Kimberly and Denise .

Hop Around the Block with MFT

Hi everyone! Welcome to the My Favorite Things Hop Around the Block blog hop! If you want to start at the beginning of the hop, head on over to Kim's blog and follow the links.

Each month the design team kicks off the newest release with a fun blog hop. The new stamps that you see on this hop will be released on Wednesday night after the New Release Cocktail Party on Splitcoaststampers from 8-10 p.m. EASTERN.

This month I wanted to use the newest flopsey- Birthday Flopsey - for one of my hop cards. I just adore him!!!

Materials used: Stamps-Birthday Flopsey (My Favorite Things); Memento tuxedo black ink; Copic Markers; Perfect Paper panels (My Favorite Things); white cardstock - Gina K Pure Luxury; designer paper White Out (We R Memory Keepers); tag punch (SU!); star punch; corner rounder punch (Creative Memories); button (The Paper Studio); ric rac; hemp (SU!); foam mounting tape.

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo black ink on a Perfect Paper Panel and colored him with Copic markers. I pieced the cake and added some white gel pen icing. Instead of using the little candles that come with the set, I just punched out a star to stick on the top of the cake. I stamped the sentiment and punched it out with a tag punch.

For my next card, I decided to use the new WTG set--Girls Day In--in a different way. This set has two larger images (a girl getting a pedicure and a girl getting a manicure) and lots of other fun coordinating images and sentiments. But, every time I looked at the image of the girl getting a manicure, I kept envisioning an engagement ring on her hand.

So, for this card, I gave into my vision.....a fun wedding or engagement card:The girl and the sentiment are from the new set. I used part of the "Celebrate Yourself" sentiment. I drew an engagement ring on the image before cutting it out and paper piecing the dress. The girls robe is transformed into a wedding dress by simply wiping off a bit of the robe ink before I stamped. The beautiful paper is called Silver Lustre from PaperTemptress (see link on side bar.) I also used some fun tulle. I paired this set with Boho Blossoms and embossed the heart from this set for the background.

Materials used: Stamps- Girls Day In, Boho Blossoms (My Favorite Things); Memento tuxedo black ink; cardstock-white, black Pure luxury (Gina K Designs); Silver Lustre (PaperTemptress); rhinestones (the Paper Studio); tulle; corner rounder punch (Creative Memories); foam mounting tape; red embossing powder (Ranger); white embossing powder (SU!); Versamark; heat tool.

To continue your hopping adventure, head over to the amazing Kirsten's BLOG!

Today, I wanted to post a simple card to show you how easy it is to use the new Girl Time Borders & Centers set. This set works with the 2" wooden stamper. This card can easily be used for a birthday, Mother's Day or just because.

I stamped the center purse image on pink cardstock and then cut it out and pieced it over the image that was stamped on white Prism cardstock. I used some black crystals to lay over the handle for dimension. I also added a little silver dot for the clasp on the purse.

The pamper yourself sentiment is also part of this same set. I stamped that on white cardstock and layered the other pieces on top.

Materials used: Stamps- Girl Time Centers & Borders, 2" wooden stamper (JustRite); Memento tuxedo black ink; white cardstock-Prism; pink cardstock scrap; Designer paper (SEI); Creative Memories border swirl template; ribbon (May Arts); corner rounder punch (Creative Memories); adhesive black rhinestones (Mark Richards); silver dot (Michael's); Spellbinders scalloped circle and circle nestabilities; foam mounting tape.

I love how easy it is to create lots of different cards with just this one set!
