Love boat

..heeheee...couldn't resist that title! (Remember that show?)

Anyway, I just got some designer paper with these fun waves (and whales!) on it...I used a portion of it on this card featuring one of my favorite My Favorite Things sets called Ben Paper Dolls. I just love this fella!
This set is so much fun to play with!

**Rumor has it that MFT is gearing up for a new release on Wednesday night!!! I cannot wait to see all the newest sets!!!

Materials used: Stamps-Ben Paper Dolls (My Favorite Things Presents); Memento tuxedo black ink; White Pure Luxury cardstock (Gina K Designs); designer paper-Whale of a Tale (Sassafras); pirate ship (Quic Kutz); Cuttlebug (Provocraft); corner rounder punch; Copic markers; Making Memories rub on; metal edged tag; hemp; dimensionals.

Well, off to enjoy the day. My friend Melanie and her kids are coming to visit and go to the pool with us!

Have a great day! Thanks for stopping by!

I heart you...make each day count!

I have to admit.....I am still stunned over the deaths of Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. I grew up with a Michael Jackson poster on my wall and stalking MTV for the "longgggg" Thriller video. And, for YEARS, my brother had a lifesized poster of Farrah in his room (right next to one of the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders). My sisters and I tried to get that trademark flip in our hair...and were obsessed with Charlie's Angels. Because they were both such a memorable part of my childhood--- It is hard to believe that these entertainment icons are gone. It is just another reminder of our fleeting time on this Earth...make each day count!

We are having a blast enjoying the HOT summer here....we have been hanging at the pool/ the lake and enjoying lots of sunshine!!! We are so excited because my 6 year old, Ben, just learned how to swim a few weeks ago and has progressed soo much over such a short time. Now if we could just get "I just drowned" Lauren (4) to swim. (Lauren LOVES to say that she "just drowned" if her head gets submerged under the water at all. Needless to say....she "drowns" a lot which doesn't make her eager to try to swim without her lifevest.)

I created this card for a pub call a while ago...and although it wasn't accepted....it is still one of my favorite designs. It just makes me happy: Materials used: cardstock: black (SU!); white 120 lb Pure Luxury (Gina K Designs); Designer paper-Colorful Paper Pack (KI Memories); I heart you rubber stamp (Stampabilities); heart punch (Marvy); clear embossing powder, white embossing powder (SU!); Heat tool; Versamark;Stapler; ribbon-turqoise, olive, celery (Stampin' UP!), red dot (Offray), other-Vacation Scrapbooking (Retail Inc); Brenda Walton adhesive rhinestones (K & Company); Paper piercing tool and mat pack (SU!); black classic marker (SU!).

Stay cool! Thanks for stopping by!

Gina K Preview Day 2

Hello again! Today is the second day of the Gina K Designs stamp previews. Today the design team is working with Melanie's newest set called Arranged with Love and a new set from Nina called Bug Me Anytime.

Here is a little journal I created with Arranged with Love. This set comes with a gorgeous HUGE background stamp that has a little journal box built in. There are many scripted sentiments to add in-- so it is easier than ever to create simple but stunning creations. For this journal, I chose to layer the sentiment from Say it with Flowers over the background. The background is also trimmed a bit on top and bottom to fit the journal front.

To make it look like it was uncropped, I simply cut the stamped image to the size I wanted and then took a black marker and a ruler and re-drew the border along the edge. I then colored the background with Copic markers, and then added the sentiment and matted it on more Pure Luxury white and black onyx cardstock.

All of the ribbons used on this project are from Gina K Designs Stamp TV kits. As a final touch, I stamped the background in red ink on white cardstock and rolled it up to fit inside a R.S.V.P. pen.

Materials used: Stamps-Arranged with Love, Say it with Flowers (Gina K Designs); Memento black ink; copic markers; cardstock-white, black onyx (Gina K Designs); Pink (Prism); ribbons (Gina K Designs, from Stamp TV kits); journal (Michael's $1 spot); red ink (SU!); R.S.V.P. pen (Pentel); brads (Gina K Designs); Spellbinders Labels 4 and Long scalloped rectangles; Cuttlebug (Provocraft).

Next, Nina is back with a simply adorable set called Bug Me Anytime. She also has some coordinating digital paper that will be released too. I LOVE it. I used a piece on this card along with the flower image and sentiment:

Aren't the colors fun? I went with the colors in the digital paper for the design of the card. I printed it on Pure Luxury white cardstock and it looks beautiful. I also used some of the new Pure Luxury Soft Sand cardstock to mat the main image and some white Pure Luxury behind it.

I layered the flower and added the little leaf sentiment.

Materials used: Stamps-Bug Me Anytime (Gina K Designs); cardstock-white, soft sand (Gina K Designs); digital paper-Bug Me Anytime (Gina K Designs); polka dotted dp (SEI); paper piercing tool; Spellbinders blossom die cut; Cuttlebug (Provocraft); chocolate marker (SU!); flower punch (SU!); felt flower (SU!); brad; corner rounder punch (CM).

You can see more creations with these two sets on the design team blogs:
Gina, Cathy, Cindy, Donna, Emily, Jessica, Kurtis, Lee, Lynn, Melanie, and Theresa
and, be sure to check out our CenterStage Spotlight girls joining us in Previews today: Carla Suto and Melisa Waldorf .

Melanie also has some guest designers working with her set today: Selma, Denise and Dawn.

Gina K Preview Day 1

Well, it's the BEST time of the month again---time for another Gina K Designs release. This month there are six fabulous stamp sets being released, a new color of Pure Luxury paper--Soft Sand, nail head adhesive nail heads/rhinestones, another Vivid ink pad called "Tuscan Sand" and more.....all being added to the store on THURSDAY.

Today the design team is previewing Theresa's new set called Happy Camper and Rupa's new set called 100% Sweet.

Here is a masculine card I created for the fisherman in your life....

All images are from Happy Camper. I used the new Soft Sand Pure Luxury cardstock and stamped the background on it in Memento ink. I stamped and colored the images (and clear embossed the sign) before adhering them to the scene with dimensional tape.

The clouds are freehand cut from watercolor paper (because I liked the texture) and I sponged around the edges to get some depth.

I used some of the new self-adhesive nail heads that Gina will be carrying in the store on the top tabs. Finally, I added some faux stitching around the edges.
Materials used: Stamps-Happy Camper (Gina K Designs); Memento tuxedo black ink; Ranger distress tea dye ink; soft sky ink (SU!); Copic markers; Gina K Pure Luxury cardstock-white, soft sand; watercolor paper; clear embossing powder; heat tool; versamark; paper piercing tool; brown marker; oval punch (SU!); adhesive nail heads (Gina K Designs); mounting tape; hemp.

Next, I created a mini cupcake/muffin holder and used the images from 100% Sweet to decorate the box:
I created this template so that you could see out of the front of the box and into the top of the box....that whole section is lined with acetate (so it doesn't photograph well, sorry!)

I added the little cupcake and candies to the front of the box and then created a little toothpick that goes into the cupcake/muffin with a sentiment from the set.

There are tons of images in this set---and I think all the little candies would also look adorable stamped for a background. (Hmm....will have to work on that one!)

Materials used: Stamps-100% Sweet (Gina K Designs); Memento black ink; Copic markers; designer paper-American Crafts ; Gina K white pure luxury cardstock; ribbon (SU!); Fiskars Threading Water punch; Scor-Pal; acetate; Spellbinders long scalloped rectangles; Cuttlebug (Provocraft). (Additional--cupcake/muffin, toothpick).

Now how about some more inspiration? Head on over to the design team blogs for some eye candy:
Gina, Cathy, Cindy, Donna, Emily, Erika, Jessica, Joanne, Kurtis, Lee, Lynn, Melanie, and Theresa .
We are also thrilled to have a couple of our CenterStage Spotlight Design Team join us in our previews this morning: Carolina Buchting and Jennie Harper.

Release Party Details: Join us here in our forum on this thread-Thursday, June 25th from 7-10 PM Central Time for all the fun! Then at 10 PM central time, we will release 6 new stamp sets, new Pure Luxury card stock and some great new accessories! Gina will be giving away lots of freebies too, including templates and digital paper! We hope you'll come and party with us!

Stay tuned: More previews tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by!

A Goodbye and Happy Father's Day!

Hello! Well, my two-week stint with LOTSA visitors is now over. (Waaa!) I hate seeing people go but since we will be heading to the east coast in a few weeks and will see them again---parting was not as sad this time.
This past week my sister Maureen was here. She has two children who are close in age to Cara so we had a blast. Here is a picture of us from the Riverwalk in San Antonio yesterday: We were hot and tired but I think you can see that we look a lot alike (despite the fact that she is waaaayyyy older than me. heehee!)

One of the things we did take time to do during the visit was to make a few father's day cards. I only pulled out a few stamps but we all made a card for our dads so we could get them in the mail. Here is the card I put together:
I used Sporty Accessories, Tee Talk and Not Forgotten stamp sets on this card. I wanted to focus on golf since that is what my dad likes to play---but I incorporated lots of sports on this because he likes to watch a lot of sports.
We had a great visit! Now I need a week long nap!!! lol!
Stay tuned: Gina K Designs sneak previews begin this week---lots of amazing new stamps will be added to the store on Thursday.
Thanks for stopping by! Happy Father's Day!

Have Faith Hedgie

I love Penny Black stamps---this one is called Asking the Flowers. This fella is just too cute.
I paired this stamp with JustRite Tiny Words & Centers sentiment. Instead of creating a standard card...I decided that it would be cute to create a mini card mounted on a base. So the hedgie part flips up so you can read the inside message.

<---Here is the card opened. For this card, I also used some Prismatics paper- Blush Red Light
and Island Mist Medium
and some fun May Arts ribbon.
The designer paper is from Kaiser Craft called Everblooming.

You can find all the supplies for this card at Stamper's Dream!

And some other fun news---Stamper's Dream now carries Tombow markers. Woohoo! I LOVE trying all types of coloring mediums, so I had to get a few to try them out! I will be posting with them soon!!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

TIMELESS birthday

Just a fun birthday card I whipped up using Nina Brackett's Special Fathers set from Gina K Designs. Nina designed a TIMELESS (giggle) set that has some of the most intricate clock images I have seen in stamp form.

WATCH out! TIME for another fun-tastical set coming out this month from Nina. (The peeks begin next week!) I cannot wait! (I KNOW... I am a dork!) Materials used: Stamps-Special Fathers (Gina K Designs); circle cutters (Creative Memories); Corner rounder punch (CM); ribbon-Cosmo Cricket Fleuriste; school days packaging tape (Making Memories); game spinners (Tim Holtz); vintage distress ink (Ranger); Memento black ink; red cardstock (PRISM); draft (SU!); designer paper-Bridgeport (SEI).

Off to Seaworld with the kids and our visitors!

Baby on Board

I have had this card idea in my head for awhile---and I finally got to create it!

I combined the ambulance from Nurse Feelgood with the bear from Wee Tees and the sentiment from Little Tees (all from Gina K Designs) to create this new baby card!

REMOVED FOR PUBLICATION

Kind of a funny combination of elements but I like it!

The white and rocket red cardstock is from Gina K Designs and the ribbon is from her Eclectic Summer kit.

And just in case you were wondering----Nope--I still cannot sew. The sewing around the white mat is fake! Maybe....someday!!

Materials used: Stamps-Nurse Feelgood, Wee Tees, Little Tees (Gina K Designs); Memento black ink; Copic markers; cardstock-white, red (Gina K Designs), blue (Prism); ribbon (Gina K-Eclectic Summer Kit); designer paper-Bridgeport (SEI); digital paper-Gina K Designs; SU circle/scalloped circle punches; paper piercing tool; clip; Mark Richards metals stickers; slit punch (SU!); dimensional foam tape.

Heading to Sea World tomorrow with my kids and my sister and nephews who are here visiting!!! Woohoo!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Recycled Love

Hello everyone!!! Hope you are having a great day.

I am working on my final projects for my final Dirty Dozen gallery and took a break to play with this this new set from Unity called Love Grows.

I adore this heart-y tree---So much fun to play with! The sentiment is also part of this set and there are more really cool images!!! I know I will using this a lot!

And do you see that big ole ribbon??? That was recycled from a new teen store I went to with my daughter. When you check-out, they put your items in a fun bag and tie a ribbon around it. The cute part is that they let you select the ribbon and when my daughter found that out, she said "Go ahead, Mom! Pick what YOU want!" Ahh...she knows me too well!!! I finally found the perfect home for it right on this card!

Materials used: Stamps- Love Grows (Unity Stamp Co.); Memento tuxedo black ink; white/black cardstock (Gina K Pure Luxury); Kraft Cardstock (SU!); designer paper- trad. tiny words (KI Memories), Green-Canopy: Brunch Collection (Crate); ribbon -recycled from store, gingham-Offray; key tag punch (SU!); clip (SU!); Copic red marker; black, red Stampin Up! Markers; Brenda Walton adhesive rhinestones (K & company); Raindot hearts (Gina K Designs); Cutting system (Creative Memories); paper piercing tool.

Sail Away

Hello everyone! Hope you are having a GREAT week.

I have so enjoyed having my sister and niece visit---they leave today and I am a bit bummed (but I know I will be seeing them in just over a month so that helps with the goodbyes!)

Here is a card I created last week. The stamps are all from Gina K Designs--Lazy Days of Summer and Eclectic Summer (StampTV kit) sentiment.
This is just a quick fun design I thought would be a cute way to show off the boat image.
I cut the sentiment in half and used the "Happy" part to create the circle...just repeatedly stamped the word and then punched it out. Then I stamped the script birthday below. This was simple but I loved the result. I freehand cut the cloud shapes from designer paper and sponged a bit around the edges.

I will edit in the designer paper I used after my sister leaves--(she is staying in my stamp room!)

Hope you have a wonderful day!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Yipeee!!! So excited that my sister will be here tomorrow (and my sweet niece Megan!) We have been cleaning and getting their room ready...

and I had time to eek out a card using one of my mostest favoritiest EVAH sets from My Favorite Things---Boho Blossoms. This set is soo cool and if you have been following my blog for awhile, you know I use this set VERY often!

Sooo....I was talking to the fabulous Kim (MFT lady) and she thought it would be fun for me to give a set away, since I am taking a break from being "officially" on the design team.

Here is a card I whipped up with my beloved Boho Blossoms:

I paired the set up with this gorgeous Sabrina paper from Making Memories to create a romantic card. I layered different pieces to create the design. The large heart is stamped in Memento ink and I added some of the pretty coordinating flowers (thanks Charlene!) in the center of the heart and attached a little sentiment through the center brad.

<--It is kind of hard to see the little blossoms but you can click the photos to make them larger. I added the small hearts along the bottom (popped up the center one!) I love the colors---so MFT!!! This set rocks!

So, do you want to win Boho Blossoms??? Just leave a comment on this post telling me what YOUR favorite My Favorite Things set is!!! Random.Cara will select a winner on Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. CENTRAL time. The winner will have three days to contact me before I draw a new name. (As always, subscribers can post twice.)

Thanks Kim....for everything!!! HUGS

Have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Picture of Love

Last night I had some time to play around with this adorable Picnic Time Sarah Kay (Stampavie)image. I just love these highly detailed stamps---so much fun to color! I colored this image with Copic markers and cut it out and then framed it using the Spellbinders Labels four set. (BTW--I have been getting LOTS of questions about Copic markers recently ? and just wanted to let you know that I have responded individually if you provided your email address---however, if you post anonymously, I have no way to get back to you to answer a question. I do plan to do another Copic coloring tutorial in another week or two...stay tuned! Hopefully I will be able to address a lot of the questions then!)

The designer paper on this card is by Making Memories. I sponged a bit of Tea Dye Ink (Ranger) on the edges to age it a bit. For the sentiment, I inked only part of a stamp from the Tiny Words & Centers set (JustRite). I framed the sentiment with a Chatterbox Brad -Easy Bradmaker Kit (LOVE this kit!). The final touch is a piece of olive ric rac under the main image.

Check out Stamper's Dream for most of the supplies used to make this card!

Materials used: Stamps-Picnic Time (Sarah Kay for Stampavie), Tiny Words & Centers set (JustRite Stampers); Memento black ink; Ranger Distress Tea Dye Ink; sponge; SU black marker; white cardstock (PRISM); Designer paper--Just Chillin' Girl 6 x 6 paper pack (Making Memories); Copic Markers; Spellbinders Labels Four Nestabilities; Cuttlebug (Provocraft); olive ric rac (May Arts); Easy BradMaker Kit (Chatterbox).

Life is about CHANGE....a Personal Post...

...for those of you looking for some creative inspiration---I will have something to share along those lines tomorrow. Today, I am just babbling about a few changes you might notice....

I started this stamping hobby a few years ago as a release---something just for me. Over the years this hobby had taken me such amazing directions. Lately, however, I have felt that this hobby is taking just a bit too much of my time. I ALWAYS take a month off in the summer to just be with my kids with no deadlines, etc. I will still do that later in July....but for now, I have decided to cut back a bit so I have time to do lots of other things.

Therefore, I have decided to not renew my contract with My Favorite Things and I am also taking a break from the CCEE group. I am trying to reduce the amount of "deadline" creating I have to do from week to week so that I can go back to creating because I am driven to do so. I will continue to design for Gina K and guest design for Stamper's Dream. Hopefully, this will allow me to get a better balance on things in my life. There is so much I want to do besides stamp:

I want to run and play with my kids without having to worry that I might have to work all night to stick to a deadline.

I want to spend lots of time with my husband before he deploys in the fall.

I want to get back into GREAT shape.

I want to stamp---when I want to! (And not stamp when I don't feel well enough, or my kids need me.)

I want to visit my friend's blogs/galleries and see the amazing things they have been creating!

These decisions have been difficult to make---so difficult I have put off making them for quite some time. The MFT girls and the CCEE group are some of my greatest stamping friends and so I definitely feel sad about it. But the fear of losing my stamping friends or letting people down has kept me feeling overwhelmed for too long.

I just wanted to share this with you. I WILL still be around (sometimes more, sometimes less). I will post on my blog but not with the intensity that I have been because I have been on so many design teams. I know that this is what I need right now.....and I hope that you will still continue to stop by and say hello!!!

Special thanks to Kim (MFT)--you know I will always be a MFTer! Thank you for being a true friend and putting me before business! (((KIM)))

PS: My Favorite Things is releasing several new stamp sets on Wednesday night. I will have a peek at one of the new releases to share tomorrow!

Thank you for understanding......and Thanks for stopping by!

A Birthday Hangover and a Color Challenge

Hi everyone! Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Both parties went GREAT! Lauren (4) loved having her friends over for a princess/water party. Cara and her friend set up a temporary tattoo booth for the girls and a few of them left looking like lead singers in heavy metal bands.
Cara (13) then had her movie night/slumber party. The girls had a lot of fun (not a lot of sleep, but they were really good!) Mom is tired!!

Today, I am hosting the color challenge on StampTV. You can find all the details on the challenge HERE. You have all week to play along and be entered to win a stamp set of your choice from Gina K Designs!!

Here is my card:

I used the stamps from the new StampTV kit-Eclectic Summer on this card. I paired the image with some Lime Rickey (Basic Grey) paper. The card base is created using the Bright Summer Grunge Digital Paper (by Emily Giovanni). These papers go so well together.

I stamped the image and colored it with Copic markers. After popping out the flowers, I cut the circles using Spellbinders dies.

<--Here is the card as it is opening. You can see the design better this way. The top flap tucks behind the main image circle to keep the card shut.
Inside, I added a birthday sentiment from the kit and some designer paper.
Hope you will play along in the challenge.
Thanks for stopping by!
